Nice work, do you have to do much more than hook up the lights? Do you get high beam assist after the install?

I'll be doing the same headlight swap on a 2012 ML350.

Can you point me to a guide or a video on how to remove the headlights. Did you encounter any wiring issues compatibility issues when you did the swap?

I purchased one used headlight assembly (no bulb or ballast included) to try with at first. I plan on installing an aftermarket HID kit in the new headlight assembly.

Can you get your hi beams to work automatically if you don't have that option now.To go on and off when car lights come toward you

2014 ml350

I know this is an old thread but I was able to install an Ebay h7 led kit (icebeamers) successfully on my dad's 14 ml350. I had to grind the original clip to fit the led through. Then just used grey silicone to hold it together. The first problem was after the car was started and the headlights on, the lights would lose power. My guess was there wasn't enough resistance found and once the computer thought there was a "bulb out", it would cut the circuit off for safety? Either way I ended up hooking up the sylvania load equalizer (bought at advanced auto parts) in series with it and they stayed on. Wrapped the load equalizers in foil (just for a false sense of security haha) and shoved the whole setup in the headlight assembly. Nothing melted or set fire so I called it a success. The visability was definitely improved but my mom has a 13 ml350 with the better headlights and those are still better in my opinion. But for $35 total, it's not bad. Hope this helps someone in the future.

How did the lights hold up? Do you have any other pictures of how the car look like from a distance? Do the lights stick out like a sore thumb or do they look very low key? I have ha 2014 ML350 and my car does not have the HID lights. I've noticed the lighting is extremely bad to a point where sometimes I feel like I don't even know where the road is. I'm thinking about getting the Lasfit ML350 H7 LED light bulbs. This is the product:

https://www.lasfit.com/products/2012...oaAktCEALw_wcB

Has anyone used these lasfit light bulbs? The idea of LED light bulbs sounds great, but i have a hard time understanding that the bulbs are safe for the car. Yes I know there is a fan incorporated into the light bulb to cool down the fan but what good is it if the back of the housing is sealed shut with a rubber cap that is designed to keep moisture and dust out? Theoretically wouldn't the housing overheat regardless? If so I wonder if anyone here has experienced their wiring or headlamps melting.

Are you reconstructing the factory halogen headlights into the MB HID head lamps? Would you possibly be able to provide us with a rough breakdown of how to do it and where we can purchase the necessary tools/ products to install them? I really want to buy HID headlamps for my 2014 ML350 but it seems like they simply do not exist.

You can purchase the ILS assembly (pictured above), dont know how much it is nowadays, but if you buy them, take apart the front of the car (as seen above) and can get someone to program the headlamps, the auto-highbeam mode, and active curve you'll have xenon. OR
you can stay with your assembly, upgrade to xenons and get on your way, the later is a less expensive option if you ask me

Yes, it will fit. Alternatively, if you don't mind mixing brands, we assembled this hybrid kit with a Hylux ballast we prefer with the quality Morimoto bulb H7 Hybrid HID conversion kit

Where is this module physically located in the factory position?

For starters, he won't be even able to close the freakin' cap on the back of the projector with those bulbs on - or did you fail to notice the massive protrusion with the heatsink and fan (which btw has a tendency to fail) *AT THE BACK* of the LED bulbs? Where do you think that part is going to fit in the headlight housing, and furthermore, assuming that it actually fits (which it doesn't), how is it going to get some air for that fan? A regular light bulb emits heat at the glass part at the front, not at the back of the headlight, which is just ABS plastic. Then, you'll also need to cheat the system with resistors (and capacitors - your "cancellers") so you don't get error codes and flickering. Do you have any idea how hot the resistors get?

Can you show me one- just ONE - picture of an LED bulb installation in a W166 halogen headlight? Please?

And, even if you butcher the headlight housings themselves and leave them open, the light diffusion pattern from the LEDs absolutley sucks. The focal point of the reflector and lens is meant to work with a regular bulb, not the two LEDs producing all of their light in a narrow beam pattern on the sides. The only possibly workable option - which is certainly also not without challenges - would be to go with an aftermarket HID bulb retrofit.

I don't have a picture, but I have fitted LED bulbs in place of the halogens. The cap to the HL assembly fits with room to spare and I've never had a code (or error message) thrown.

The light does have a good cutoff, but it's not that much brighter than stock. I wonder how these 360 degree beam LED's would perform:
