Carbon Fiber INTERIOR Trim Kit Replacement
Hi guys,
I am new here. Location Toronto, Canada.
Just got my 2013 w166 for couple month, of course a used one.
As a used car, it was in a very good shape, but one of the wood trims is broken.
So that I started to thinking replace that, but after searching, I could only find the part come together like 6 or 7 as a kit.
I was think if it goes like this why not do a whole upgrade. So that I searched all the e-commercial site, finally got my idea one from China. This entire interior carbon trim kit comes from a GLE AMG w166. They tore them down from the accident cars from the US and Canada.
Haven't got the kit, will update this thread once I receive them. I guess I have to go to a repair service.
Fortunately, I asked McNelly, they said they can help.
Attached some photos for you guys to look.

Funny I had exact same damaged door panel trim...same crazed clear coat...although mine is black wood...dealer replaced under warranty just before my warranty ran out last month..

yeh, every single w166 got this. My guess it's damaging by seatbelt when unbuckle. Poor design

When I had my ML, I had the brushed aluminum trim. It was looking good but I noticed some very small dents in the driver's door trim after a couple of months. It took me another month of so to realize that it was the metal part of the seatbelt hitting it almost every time I was removing it. It was hardly noticeable on the aluminum panel, but I can see it's quite different on the wood trim! Good to know, as I now have a GLS with piano black trim.

Funny enough, I noticed a crack in my passenger side door panel in black poplar wood. I thought my kids mishandled it but no one ever really goes in the car. Now that Insee it's a common issue I think I will ask my dealership to replace it.

I would just remove it bring it to a body shop let them sand down the clear cpat and ask them to put 4-5 coats of clear coat to get the same wet look depth of the other trims. That will be way cheaper than sourcing and replacing all of your trims not to mention breaking the tabs and potential squeaks after,
