Apple car play- anyone successfully added?
i know that on the 2012-15 models the comand version is older, not that i mind it, much simpler if you ask me, Has anyone been able to successfully mod it on their own? just out of curiosity or does it seem too impossible of a task

I am considering this product: aliexpress.com/item/33000000887.html and installation link:
The motivating factor to go for this product is that it is designed very specifically to integrate with NTG4.5 4.7. You can use the existing round dial/joystick, stg wheel controls, back controls. And because the product is designed so specific the cost over 350 USD is justified considering the R&D cost, and the target audience/customers will buy to modify. I am waiting one more day for black friday deal which will bring down the price to 347 USD.

That sounds like what I just posted about in another thread https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Fit-For-Merc...t/392309711343
What you have posted is for NTG 5.0 onwards (heads up display)

"Yes, friend, this kits is indeed provide both the CarPlay and Android Auto functions in your car. Not only the mirroring. And yes, your car model is indeed supported, but there is just one thing need to be noticed.
As you can see in our description, you need to make sure that you have the Aux option activated under the Audio menu. Otherwise, you won't be able to use this kits normally. If you have already got the Aux option under the Audio menu, then you can just place the order directly. Thanks!"

I do not know where my link took you, but it is for NTG 4.5 and a W166. I even emailed the seller and they confirmed:

Because the other product I found on Aliexpress, it allows the car play with bluetooth connection.

1.Unichip (wireless) - USD 439 (unknown source to buy, still investigating how to buy, the chinese supplier will get back to me as per their business hours)
2.CARTIZAN (wired)- USD 242 (Ebay)
3.Zhoyito-JoyAuto (wireless) - USD 379 (Ali express Black Friday deal USD 346) only on 11/29
I am buying the Joyauto product from Aliexpress. Sounds like a reliable and prompt supplier in terms of service/installation support/warranty.

I've been looking into these as well. My only hesitation is that they all seem to use their own microphone, which means finding a place to mount it and the inevitable issues with echo and background noise that Mercedes engineers would have spent time to overcome. If the third party vendors can find a way to intercept the OEM microphone signal this would be a perfect solution.

Therefore, after careful observation, I noticed that option No. 3 in my list, you can opt to not install the microphone. Result - you will not have the option of "hey Siri"
Let me know what you think.
