I have a 2013 ml350 bluets 61,000 miles . I went to pick up my son pulled in driveway and pulled out started to go up street and car died. no warning lights no nothing. had it towed to motorwerks in barrington,il where they say i have a seized engine?? gelled up. A new engine they say would be 38,000 ok then talking to the service manager they say they will split the cost with me 15,600. I hear these diesel car's gel up not my fault. I do not have the 15,600 to pay for it. any suggestions.?? there is a blog on Facebook with 8 people with the same issue.

I would suggest getting an independent OIL Analysis. I'm guessing that maybe too late, but perhaps there is some residual left in the case to drain and send out. There seems to be more to this story... fact that dealer is offering to pay 1/2 ??? The spec for the Bluetec engine is very specific, 229.52 or 229.51. If the dealer has used an improper spec oil... well... his bill!!! Were your oil changes done at proper intervals? The reason for asking is that if not, Dealer may have an out.

OP, I also would like to know when was the last time when you did oil change.
What intervals between oil changes.
I'm worry because I have the same engine and 58.5K miles on it.

I did see a few discussions on this subject, wondering if there any sings prior to full stop.
Like jello should be on the oil cap or dip stick,
Looks like its a good teat to take oil pan off and look.

Keep us posted, but Im afraid MB will find a way out of it again.

5500 miles between oil changes max if you want to keep these running trouble free.

2014 ML350 BLUETEC with 92,000 miles and oil changes at 10,000 mile intervals. Runs great.

I follow Tom Stephens' recommendations for oil and additives in my 2014 ML350 BT.

- 20W-60 Redline motorcycle synthetic oil in the summer (towing an small Airstream).
- 10W-50 Redline or Motorex motorcycle synthetic oil in the winter (Oregon, so mild winters).
- 11oz can of BG DOC with each oil change at ~5-6k mile intervals.

I can find no evidence of sludging at ~50K miles and the motor runs sweet and smooth. Fuel mileage is no worse than with factory-recommended oils. Worth a look.

They are only splitting the cost with you because the "new" engine from MB is about $15k without labor and markup. Contact someone at MBUSA and hope they will escalate the issues and get something done. This is turning into an all too common issue that Mercedes needs to start doing something about other than hitting the ignore button on people.
