2010 C300 Sport. 2014 GLK 350
Question Need some help choosing 2015 ML350 or CPO 2017 GLC

OK, I am in the market for a new vehicle. My C300 sport is getting up there in miles and so is my back. The sports sedan ride is no longer fun on long trips and I find the low entry and exit a bit taxing at times.

I really like my wife's GLK. Perfect blend of sedan and SUV. But alas, they stopped making it.

Now, I have driven both the GLC and the ML and they both have pros and cons. The GLC would be newer, have fewer miles, an almost perfect height to get in and out, a reasonably smooth engine and transmission and a really now cabin layout. But to me the styling on the outside is blah and almost effeminate.

The ML350 I am looking at is a 2015, with 30k miles. Nicely equipped. I like the styling, rides great. A bit of a heavy beast, the lack of acceleration would take some getting used to. And it makes the fit in the garage a little tight (but doable).

So what is everyone's thoughts?

Thanks

Mike

I think it all boils down to personal preference... I'd go with 2015 ML.

Where are you located? How many miles on the C300?

Live near Pittsburgh, PA. Just over 92K on it right now. Still runs strong and handles great. I will miss the fun of driving it daily, but there are days when my back just hates that car. And not a big fan of the new C300.

GLC would be my vote. If the only plus on the ML is a little styling...then the GLC is the better choice for many other reasons.

I would definitely go with the ML 100%. I had a 2017 GLC for a loaner and I couldn't wait to give it back. The newer styles (C300,GLA and GLC) all feel very small inside to me. I also do not like the "mouse" in the center console. It basically performs the same functions as the control knob (which is still present and directly in front of the mouse) but is overly sensitive and poorly placed if you use the center console as an armrest. I'm not sure which ML350 you drove, but mine is no slouch in regards to acceleration. The one you drove might need to have the TCU reset. The ML has a richer, higher quality feel to it and it is built like a tank. My wife's 2014 ML was hit by a girl doing 65+mph while she was standing still in traffic. She walked away without a mark. Needless to say she could drive almost anything she wanted and she wanted another ML. Tried to show her a GLE and she didn't like the new interiors. I appreciate the Tablet display features but hate the way it looks.

Go with the ML. The ML 350 is ment to be a comfortable cruiser but do not under estimate the base 350 engine. It is more than enough to propel the ML. If the ML has airmatic and the GLC does not have it then if comfort is what you seek then it is no brainer go with the ML.

Thanks for all the input.

As much as I wanted the ML, I went with a GLC. The ML was just a few inches too high for me to get in and out of comfortablely. Having a bad back and walking with a cane I just needed to be able to slide in and out easily.

Shame of it is, my dealer had a perfect ML for me.

Maybe the next one will be the E wagon.
