'99 and '05 E55 AMG
Search, read, study, then search and read and study some more. An E55 is a very different creature than the non-AMG versions of the E-class. One small detail is the fuse and relay map for the non-AMG is not applicable to the AMG cars. Difficult to troubleshoot an electrical issue when you're looking in the wrong place.
Fuel pumps. Fuel filters. Fuel regulators. Fuel pump relay (this is the little ******* that will put you on the side of the road; and as an added bonus it is hidden in an out of the way location!). Airmatic. Supercharger clutches and bearings. Control arms, thrust arms, ball joints. Supercharger idler pulley (rebuild for $27 or buy new for $540).
First thing to check: were the fuel pumps, fuel filter/regulator, and fuel pump relay replaced at 60,000 miles? If no proof, budget $1000 and replace all of the above immediately.
