R230 2007 Sl550 Passenger Roof seal replacement

Hello
My front locking cylinder for my top has leaked. I am in the process of replacing it using the parts from Cabriolet Hydraulics so that I can use their splicing couplers, which sounds like it will save much time and effort. As all of the hydraulic oil drenched the rubber above the front passenger window it has mishapenned it badly. I would like to replace it. I believe I found the part number 2307900698. I am curious about the procedure for removing and reinstalling the new piece. This is one that attached to the top and is about two and a half feet long. Any advice before I botched it up.
Thank you
Holden

I am still hoping I can get a reply from somebody how to replace part # 230 790 06 98. it is the roof seal above passenger window that was ruined by hydraulic oil leaking from front locking cylinder. I have bought the part but don;t want to screw up the installation. I hope someone can help me. my car is a 2007 sl550.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Holden:
I have a 2003 SL500 with a hydraulic leak dripping on my passenger seat. I just replaced one in the trunk with a rebuilt one from Top Hydraulics Inc and it was quite easy. I know the one leaking now is part #A230 800 0872, the Top Front lock/latch cylinder. I am concerned as you are/were that I will screw it up. I know there is only one cylinder and it operates two locks (where the top attaches above the windshield). I am concerned as to whether or not I have to replace the cylinder WITH the lines attached or I can disconnect the lines and rebuild the cylinder. Have you attemoted anything yet?

Did you ever find instructions on how to do this? I have the exact same problem and my seal is also a problem. I have seen videos on all of the other seals but this one. Need help replacing passenger side roof seal.

Passenger Roof Window Seal Replacement

I am not a dealer, but had the same problem when I bought my '09 two weeks ago.

I purchased the seal which is one piece but has an upper and lower seal. After looking at the new seal, I pulled the heaver lower seal out of the track => Straight down towards window. Under it is 4 small screws that i carefully removed. This removes the seal and the metal trim piece. I then removed the seal and installed the new one same way came off. Thin seal on top with the thick one not in the track yet. Then I put the screws back but left a little loose. Then I closed the roof to center the seal and trim piece. Then tightened the screws. Then it was a matter of pushing the bottom seal back into the groove (PITA). I found using a stick with rounded edges to push the seal towards the car (compress the width) and pushing compressed seal upwards worked the best. You don't want to use anything sharp or you can cut the seal.

Again, I am not a mechanic so there may be a better way, but this worked for me.

GOOD LUCK
