The look of the rear does seem a lot sleeker than I thought it would be from pictures, especially from that perspective. Looks very beefy, wide, and elegantly futuristic.

The front does have massive presence, thanks to that enormous grille and stance. The eyebrows are placed on more perfectly than on any other M-B. IMO the front would have been perfect if the headlights shape was actually cut sleekly exactly like the eyebrow, instead of a more the more blocky way it continues above and jaggedly outward from the eyebrows.

The rear looks really elegant in that CL way, which is something the W220 did well and IMO the W222 continues more-so than the W221. I just wish the chrome bar somehow could continue into the rear lights instead of stopping more abrubtly at the trunks shutline.

Newest Dealer Guide 5/29/13

This ordering guide frankly makes a lot more sense. Included are better interior photographs and explanations. I just got this today after requesting additional information about an order I had placed with my dealer. I tried to attach the file, but cannot because it exceeds the 1.9MB limit for PDF's on this site.

According to the updated 5/29 DOG, Burmester Surround Sound System, LED Headlights and Pano roof are standard??

I am about to pull the trigger on 2014 LCI M5, but for roughly the same price, I think I'll order the new S class instead...

I think they are planning to launch the hybrid version of this car as well. It will be a huge step for the Mercedes to launch their flagship model in an electric version.

Daimler own a small portion of Tesla and Tesla will be providing them with their revolutionary knowledge and components regarding Electric Vehicles. Makes sense.

Look at the Tesla sedan, many of the components they use come directly off the S-Class and it seems strangely familiar to sit in...

I think the Tesla steering wheel is also the M-B AMG steering wheel with a different horn/airbag section of course.

Funny how the interior B Pillar trim looks exactly like the E Class.

I really want to see how the U.S interior basic specs look, as I find it hard to believe these very ornate versions we keep seeing are gonna be the norm. I saw one pic of a U.S spec all black interior and the door panels, dash and seats looked very "basic" compared to most of the press models.

IMO in that video the exterior looks already both fussy and dull. I'm personally still not buying into the car and hype until I see it in person.

I am sure it will be a fine car, but the exterior styling is flat - the 221 is unmistaken for anything but an S, not so with this car.

Why bother? I have never seen a big complainer about nothing in my life. You got a BMW why even hangout here anymore? You don't like anything Mercedes does. Everyone in the KNOWN WORLD knows this. They were sick of you on GCF and they're sick of you here too.

The truth hurts, clearly. Yikes! I'll give your fanboy vitriol a bit of merit if the S even brought you back to Mercedes. Otherwise your sentiments are wishful and superfluous.

EDIT:

And as I hopefully would only have to say this once, setting aside my friend who under the influence of tit-for-tat fanboy wars would try and sway this into one.... if one can't deal with someone's reaction after seeing a new video, or picture, or article, or in response to one of many conversations, of "I don't like it" or a thought therein backed with articulated reasons, then that problem lies solely with them. If you can't stand a dissenting opinion, either ignore it and hopefully one day realize you put way too much personal stock into this model/brand/object at hand, or deal with it and if you can muster one, respond with an argument otherwise (which should be unnecessary in many cases when talking subjective thoughts and opinions). If my personal opinion bothers anyone so heavily married to their own so much, then I can only be flattered they take my words/thoughts with such weight.

And who says I'm not in the market for a Mercedes? With the crazy low Lease deals coming from MBUSA bombarding my Inbox day after day believe me I've been tempted to add one if I can figure out the room/reasoning or find one that can once again entice me, and I'll always be watching the brand, especially after having 4 straight of 'em.

It isn't even about fanboyism, this is just sheer annoyance by everyone who has to read your stale crap everywhere. Nothing to do with Mercedes or being a fan. This about your tired *** ****. You won't get that and if this board was run like GCF they'd throw you off here too.

Truth hurts? Truth about what? One fool's take on the S-Class? Man please get over yourself, you aren't anywhere near being a credible critic on anything Mercedes at this point. One brainless rant after another, like hearing dogs barking in the distance. Means nothing.

Watch as your "truth" is reduced to dust as the S-Class orders/sales pile up.

M
