Recall 2015100002 OCT15 – 2015 217 (S Coupe) front seat belts may have been interchanged (left/right sides) affecting locking behavior. Additionally, child seat restraint function for passenger seat would not be available. Dealer will correct. Approximately 2,580 vehicle affected.

Recall 2015100004 NOV15 – 2015 222 Hybrid Synchronization between fuel pump and fuel system control module might be compromised after driving in electric mode, combustion engine cannot be restarted. Dealer will update control module software. Approximately 4 vehicles affected.

LI82.85-P-062560 NOV15 – COMAND delayed processing of menu inputs and route guidance indications caused by SiriusXM data stream, perform initial startup of COMAND unit again with latest Regio-DVD.

LI88.50-P-062539 NOV15 – 217 Rattling/clattering noise from trunk lid control drive unit, apply felt onto ball head.

Recall Campaign 2015100003 NOV15 – 2014-2016 S63sedan/coupe, engine control module may cause irregular rpm at idle that could lead to unintentional engine shut down just prior to a vehicle stop (e.g.: while coasting toward traffic light) that might be interpreted as ECO Start/Stop. Engine restart requires placing transmission to N or P using ignition. Dealer will update ECM software. Approximately 2,956 vehicles affected.

LI91.25-P-062553 NOV15 – 222 & 217 w/multi-contour seats (432) noises (e.g.: squelching) from massage function in either front seat, all air cushions in backrest massage mat must be checked for adhesive residue and properly cleaned.

I live in Louisiana and I too have ticking/cricket noise from engine bay heard in cabin. Was told this is 'normal noise' from hi pressure injectors. Sounds like an oxymoron to me. Any solution?

LI07.02-P-054717 - 276/278/157/152 ticking or pulsing noise from high-pressure pump and/or fuel injectors, any noise complaints a reference vehicle must be used for comparison to assess the actual noise level. In cases of abnormal noise levels, contact DTS (MB assistance).

For the most part bulletins released before vehicle production date should be resolved on the assembly line most especially recalls and service campaigns. Nevertheless do not hesitate to reference any bulletin that may seem applicable to your concern to your SA ...and what do you mean for a Pinto driver

Requires mph or mph & km/h to be shown, driver can set only mph or km/h. Dealer will SCN code instrument cluster. Approximately 4,755 vehicles affected.

LI83.30-P-062887 DEC15 – 222/212/205 hybrid insufficient AC cooling output, perform leak test of refrigeration circuit of high voltage (HV) battery, replace HV battery.

LI32.50-P-063003 DEC15 – 222,217 with ABC (code 487) creaking noise when driving off braking or rocking vehicle when stationary, replace both spring control arms.

Recall 2015120002 JAN16 – MY15 222 plug-in hybrid, the circuit board in the high voltage on-board charger might not have been manufactured according to specifications. In the event of a circuit board malfunction, the charging function for an external charging cable might not be available. Additionally, the high voltage on-board charger might incorrectly detect a charging cable, even while the car is being driven. If the vehicle incorrectly detects a charging cable, the transmission attempts to shift to “Park”. Should this occur when the vehicle is in motion at speeds below 3 mph, the transmission would engage the parking lock function. This would abruptly stop the vehicle and could increase the risk of a crash. Approximately 49 vehicles affected.

LI08.20-P-063334 FEB16 – 222 plug-in hybrid, after being parked (ignition off) the vehicle fails to start on only the very rarest of occasions, if a repeated start attempt is made within a period of 10 minutes. After a waiting period of more than 15 minutes, the vehicle is fully operational, no fault code. Update software for motor control unit.

LI91.10-P_063347 FEB16 – 222 front seat backrest map pocket no longer closes automatically, replace affected backrest trim panel.

LI91.10-P-063348 FEB16 – 217 start of production to VIN WDD2173771A014377 (production date 5/10/15) when the release handle for EasyEntry is operated the backrest frame folds sluggishly/sticks, replace affected backrest frame.

had my key looked at today and they said all I needed to do was reposition the prongs the make contact with the battery, and so now it works as normal again......


I was getting the 'check key battery' message for a few weeks

LI07.08-P-063355 FEB16 – 222 w/278 engine increased idle speed after engine control unit (ECU) software update, perform SCN coding.

LI82.70-P-063562 MAR16 – 222, 217, 190, 205 w/ code 531 Bluetooth phone call drops briefly various phone manufacturers caused by COMAND software update, work on a remedy is in progress. Reset phone & COMAND unit to default settings - iPhone deactivating WLAN.

our 2016 S550 makes a clattering/rattling noise from the engine bay that is very noticeable from just above idle- 2,000 RPM. It can even be heard when coasting at speed. It doesnt seem like its lifter/valve noise, more like a pump?

Is there any bulletins for this?

I can already hear my dealer saying "this is normal for the DI engines" however, it is very noticeable... especially in a car this quiet...

I've always thought the clatter from the engine compartment was a bit too much. It is most noticeable in my 2015, around town, on light acceleration. At highway speeds, I never hear it.

Cricket Noise

The cricket noise you are all referring to is caused by the high pressure fuel pumps. Direct injection cars have two sets of fuel pumps. The first one is the standard in-tank fuel pump that all cars have. The second is the high pressure fuel pump which usually runs off of one of the cams in the motor. Direct injection motors require a very high fuel pressure in order to operate hence the addition of a cam-driven high pressure fuel pump. The S550 actually has two high pressure fuel pumps. A right bank and a left bank. Both are mounted on the rear of the motor right against the firewall. The noise they make (cricket, clatter, whistling, etc) is normal. What isn't normal is the fact that you can hear them in the cabin. This is totally unacceptable especially in a $100k+ car. I immediately noticed the noise within a few hundred miles on my 2015 S550. After two trips to the dealership, they finally agreed to replace both pumps and all of the associated fuel lines. For the first 20-30 miles afterwards, the sound was about 80% gone. After about 100-200 miles, it came back to the levels it was at before. I have yet to bring the car back to address the issue due to lack of time. The fact that the replacement pumps make the same noise tells me that either the problem is unfixable, the cabin noise is caused by a bad seal somewhere in the firewall or its just a poor design. I'm hoping its a bad seal that's letting the sound in but I have a feeling we're all stuck hearing this noise for as long as we own the cars. Can anyone with 10-20k+ miles on their cars tell me if the noise has faded or has it stayed the same?

Hi Konistiger,
Sorry for being a noob. Is my car affected? My vin is WDDUG7JBXFA126509

I have been experience knocking sound in the cabin, that sounds like it is coming from inside the dash, after removing the complete dash I can confirm it isn't coming from the cabin. It could be the steering shaft/coupler or the steering rack or ball joint. I can hear the ticking/squeaking sound when stationary and turning the steering wheel left and right (not as loud as when the car is moving). It is a lot more noticeable when the car is in moving. Have you seen something similar to my case?

The noise is unbearable and unacceptable any car.

Hi pressure fuel pump noise begins after engine temperature reaches 200*, nothing prior to that. Thought of coating pumps with tar or some other type of sound insulation but, recess that they are in is too confining. Have to play radio to distract myself from this really irritating noise. Konigstiger, is MB working on a solution or no?

All 276 / 278 / 157 / 152 engines upon each initial individual customer complaint technician should be contacting MB Dealer Technical Support Team (DTS) per bulletin LI07.02-P-054717 documented on dealership invoice given to customer. This is the only way to expedite possible resolve.

I think it could be the high pressure and fuel pump then. Do you happen to have a sound clip of it? just so I can confirm that it is the same sound, the rest of the bugs don't bother me as much.

docsout or anyone, if you happen to find a fix, could you please post information here? I imported my car, the MB dealers here do not have a clue on this issue.

I have 14 s550 4matic and i notice when i start the car after few days stop has the knocking sound but it will reduce when car warm,

I also noticed a clunk sound coming either from shaft or trans when downshift on high speed,,,is there any update to engine and tran shift points?
