I am highly shocked by this too. Everyone including Edmunds, Autoblog, and even these forums were claiming the msrp would be $100K. By looking at what MB has accomplished with this car, I thought it justified and was willing to fork the money. This announcement has indeed been very surprising....

I was off by 10K on my estimate. As it stands the S550 4MATIC is 1K more than a comprable 750Li X-Drive. It sounds ridiculous saying a 100+K car is good value. But in this segment, the S is definitely a good value.

And for some reason, it makes the brain psychologically feel better to say it bought a 90 thousand dollar car vs a 100 thousand dollar car.......LOL!

Silly but true.....

I am pleasantly surprised by the prices that were announced. When my dealer emailed me with the price I was cautiously excited. It seemed too good to be true seeing it was more than likely a new model would go hand in hand with an increase.

Really glad to see Mercedes was able to drop the base prices even if it isn't a huge decrease. I personally would have been happy if it was the same price as the outgoing.

I don't think anyone could have seen this coming.

I think you guys are forgetting that the 2014 DOES NOT include P1, which is already included on the 2013's. With similar standard equipment, the 2014 is MORE expensive.

Yes, this is what was explained in another forum yesterday.

Premium 1 is included in the 2014 s63 as standard equipment. And 4matic is standard as well

And for what it's worth Burmester is standard as well.

I think most of us were expecting a significant increase. Personally i was thinking between 5-10k on the s63.

Would it be safe to say that this thing is going to sell like hotcakes?!?!?

Anyone know why the launch date was pushed out to Oct 15th?

I'm sure as people get closer to and dig deeper into the car they'll notice how MB got the price lower without affecting their margins.... One reason as I've been saying for awhile is that the car appears quite spartan in standard trim.

I'm reasonably certain no one is going to refer to an S class as spartan...

For the three people that care, the refrigerator console is $1,100.

Finally got a fully priced out build sheet from my dealer today.

Thanks Mojo. I kinda figured it would be around 1K. But I didn't put it on my order because I wasn't sure.

Of course not holistically as it's a $100K car after all, but in standard spec it's missing a lot of available stuff and the interior appears pretty basic looking to me. I don't even think it has keyless entry or go as standard yet.

Yep, you do. Trunk space takes a hit with both the Burmester 3D and refrigerator console.

Yes. In the center deep of the trunk, the fridge sits. I have a pic of it somewhere if I can find it.....Give me a moment....

willing to sacrifice 3" for adjustable rear seats. The fridge kills the trunk. IMO the amount of space left behind is not enough for 2 check in bags, 2 carryons & 1-2 computer bags.

Kind of ironic that the fridge is for long traveling, yet it prohibits you staying long where you're going.....

The S Class has had keyless entry since the W140... and the W222 does have Keyless GO (of which I can't see the appeal) as part of P1.
