Prepaid maintenance

There are some threads on this but not on later S550s. Did anyone that purchased a 2014 S550 get prepaid maint? I'm really interested if anyone bought the 50000 miles maint. plan. I ask because today I was quoted $220 for service A, $550 for B but $1075 for the 40,000 service. I'm trying to see what makes more sense.

If anyone has actual experience with prepaid on a recent S550, I'd like to hear your experience.

I did purchase the maintenance plan. The dealer told me I would save ~30% from regular prices if I keep the car for the full prepaid term. I have yet to have the first maintenance performed (too early).

I haven't bought prepaid maintenance but I'll add my two cents.

The costs of the service varies depending on where you live. NYC prices will be higher than Kentucky prices. So that's the first thing to consider.

I priced out the prepaid maintenance cost versus paying as I go and the savings I would have gotten was 50 dollars. Wasn't worth it for me.

I think the only reason to consider is if the savings are significant enough for each customer, whether you want to pay all your service costs at once and forget about it, and finally if you want to lock in the service costs now - as service prices can go up over time.

Savings weren't good enough, so I didn't purchase either.

One other, albeit small consideration; if the car is totaled you will lose the money paid for the plan. Wether purchase or lease, the plan is not transferable to another car and there is no reimbursement.

Happened to me on our SL, totaled due to water after 3 months.

Never use the package service plans - go ala carte for the work you need done. Most of the items in the plans are "check" this, "check" that - as opposed to actual maintenance. Oil changes, brakes fluid changes, transmission fluid changes, etc - according to the maintenance schedule. All this "check" stuff - your car is under warranty, if something breaks, they have to fix it, "checking" for it likely won't find it in advance anyway.
