Difference between S600 and S65
Both models share a 6 litre V12 of the same capacity. Is there any hardware difference between the AMG engine or is it just state of tune?
In Australia MB has not deemed us worthy of the S65....just the s600.

The current model here in Oz has a price tag on the road of about $430,000 Aussie dollars. That's around double what our American friends pay. Thanks to the 'luxury' car tax. Out tax system punishes any one who works hard and makes some money.

However, be thankful your import duties aren't as onerous as those in Singapore. MUCH worse.

I was wondering the same thing in regards to the engine on the 600 vs. 65. On the W220 (facelift) and W221 S-Classes, the S600 has been a 5.5L TT V12 while the S65 has been a 6.0L TT V12.
So I wonder if all marketing specs have been making a typo and it's the same as before.
Or if they deemed it's not worth investing in making an additional engine (5.5L TT V12) and make them all "65" engines with a different tune.
If the latter is the case, then it'll be interesting to see tuners such as Renntech come out with their ECU for the 600 and 65 engines to see if they end up with the same net power. If that's the case, we know the only difference is that the 600 has a different tune than the 65.

well if they are like the old 600s a 600 is a quiet engine and made by Mercedes, the AMG has all the amg appearance interior and the engine/exhaust is a lot more aggressive. 600 being more luxury and 65 a beast sports car. 65 has a hand built engine probably bigger brakes but I am not sure. I drove a S600 before and it felt like I was on a cloud and the car got up to speed so fast and I couldn't even hear the engine struggle. I think the S65 has a more sports tuned suspension as well.

In the W222, both V12s are 6.0s as all V12s are made by AMG now. Will likely be smaller turbos, smaller ICs, less aggressive tune, less aggressive intake and exhaust, and probably some minor internal differences but maybe not. Will be interesting to see actually.
