What's this retangular thing on the roof?
My grandson asked me what it was. I told him I really don't know.

I have the surround camera, so I thought it popped up when the surround view was on. I haven't been able to get it to open.

What is it?



Ooops....rectangular. My geometry teacher just rolled over.

It's for the roof rack. The surround view cameras are under the side view mirrors, the pop out ones are located in the front grille and the rear.

Agreed, those 4 rectangular doors, two on each side of the car, are the roof rack mount points. If you use a finger nail to open one of them you can see the threaded receptacle in the bottom.

Yep, definitely for the roof rack I even have them on my E55… If you put your fingernail in there and pull it up, they will open and you can see the spot it screws in...

those are the spots you'd pour the bacon grease in.......to keep the windows nice and lubed up..........sometimes I use duck fat instead (confit)

Anything less than the finest duck fat would be uncivilized so of course.
