SunPass Transponder on Front Plate
I throughout I saw a thread on this but I may be wrong. I just thought I would mention something regarding my transponder in case anyone is interested.
As you may know if you have looked into where the mount the transponder for EZ-Pass or SunPass, the 2014 S550 has only two places you can mount the transponder. To the left of the camera housing behind the rear-view mirror or in the bottom center of the windscreen. I sit high in the car so I did not like the option to the left of the camera case as that is in my sight line. Also, on the windscreen bottom-center just looked cluttered.
My solution was to order a front bumper transponder from SunPass. I had to pay $25 for this. They send it with a couple of special screws that take a special Allen wrench to install (they include the Allen wrench). I presume that is for theft prevention.
Even though we here in Florida do not need front plates, I already had the bracket on the front for the Euro Plate when I picked the car up. I had planned on putting my German plate on the front. So, I put that on the front and then I put the transponder underneath that. It just blends into the front of the car quite well. I will get a picture later.
I guess those in EZ-Pass country can do the same. I have an EZPass too for when I travel in the Northeast but for my trip this summer with the S550, I may just put the things next to the camera while I go through the toll booths up there.

Here is a picture I took. My EDP plate is on the front and that black thing with the 2 screws through it is the transponder. Yes, the thing you can hardly see! Worth the $25 to not have something cluttering up my windshield.

Does anyone know the proper placement of a toll pass on the 15 S550 that works ? I had the mini sticker placed below the rear view on the glass and it could not be read. I removed it and placed a Mobile transponder to the upper left side the the mirror and that can’t be read either.
Can anyone relate to this in FLORIDA or other states that have Sunpass or other ? The pic above in a past post is where I had my mini that did not work.

I am not an expert on this subject but here is what I know.
I had a '14 S and now a '16 S.
The owners manual in my '14 S was printed incorrectly. It stated that the place to put the EZPass was to the left of the camera housing if you are seated in the drivers seat. This is incorrect as it needs to be placed to the right of the camera housing closest to the passenger side or at the very bottom of the windshield in the middle of the car. These areas can be seen visibly as "cutouts" in the bright sunlight if you are oustside or inside the car.
My '14 S and '16 S have the exact same placement and I have had no problem whatsoever with EZPass and I have Traveled from my home in PA to FL and to the Midwest into MN with no problems.

'15 placement is the same as the '14 and '16. The picture in the post is not the official place. It may or may not work there.
