Hate Auto Start/Stop

I've always hated auto start stop in any car I've owned. YES, I know you can disable it--but why force someone to do that everytime. In my 911's, you could disable once and never deal with it again.

Second, the car jerks when the auto start/stop goes on and off--it's horrible compared to other auto start/stops (which you don't even feel). Anyone else have this issue? Plus AC stops blowing cold air--kinda a pain in the summer

Ok, off my soapbox--only flaw I have found with the car.

In my Porsche Cayenne, this option can be permanently turned off. And this is how I have it. Because it also jerks every time it starts/stops and I hate it.

Wow I didn't realize the auto start stop feature stops the AC. Are you sure about that? I thought the AC would run under battery power while you are stopped at a light.

I may be in the minority here, but I almost always have it on ECO mode. Maybe there is something wrong with Texex's car. I can hardly feel the engine stopping and starting. I don't have any problem at all with the auto stop/start feature.

The only flaw I found with this car is the internet connection as stated elsewhere. I have no problem at all with the auto stop/start. Are you sure there not something wrong with your car? I hardly feel the engine turning off and on.

The ECO mode for us will sometimes have more of a shake when stopping or starting...other times I don't notice it.

The A/C compressor will not run when the engine stops. Cold air will continue to come out for another minute but when the car senses that the internal temp is going back up the engine will restart while still sitting at a long light.

Typically I don't have it on ECO because my Bride turns it off because she doesn't like it.

I sympathize; however, isn't an issue for me...there are so many other buttons to press upon entering, what's one more?

Which button do you need to press each time to shut this function off?

There is an ECO button on the Command area. You can turn this off each time you start the car if you wish.

When I pay $116K for a car, I shouldn't have to turn a button off anytime I enter the car. Should be in settings. Plus in Porsche no need to do everytime--why in MB...stupid.

My buddies has this same jerking motion (2015) and YES the AC cuts off...again stupid.

My recently acquired "d" is the only car I've owned with the feature.I got a couple of C Class loaners with the feature before I totaled my Bluetec (or someone totaled it for me by T-boning me).I hate it too but my "d" allows you to permanently disable it.I'm surprised that a Mercedes can't be programmed to do so by an independent shop.

Yep, it is annoying. If you put it in sport mode, it turns off. Or you can just turn it off when you turn the car on with the eco button. I love it, but my wife hates it because it's a button she has to push to turn it off every time she starts the car. I like to turn it on when I pull up to a light that has just turned red. Most of the time I leave it off though because it turns the car off even if I stop for a second, like to grab a parking ticket from a parking meter when entering a garage.

I agree that it makes the car shake sometimes and it does turn the compressor off. Just the fans stay on. It will turn back on automatically though if it starts to get hot in the car.

Not true. I leave my car in sports mode 100% of the time and Eco kicks in every start up. Hate it.

I've learned that there's actually a hardware workaround that will remember your last saved ECO setting.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/261300404921

It's a Video in Motion module that will allow you to enter navigation and watch movies while the car is moving. Anyways, the seller tells me an add on feature he has is that the car will remember the last ECO setting before it was shut off. So if you start the car, it won't start up if you turned the car with ECO off. The module shown is for E-Class and I was only inquiring about the E-Class but I know he has an S-Class Video in Motion module as well. It may be worthwhile to send him a message and ask about the ECO shutoff function for your car.

Haha the auxiliary battery malfunction in my W221 S63 isn't a bad thing after all...it permanently disables the eco start stop for the time being

Same here, hate the S/S feature. I am annoyed that the first thing I have to do after I start the car is to disable the ECO button. I feel that the engineers at MB should have given us that choice under set-up if we wanted that feature or not. I'm tempted to try aftermarket programming but not sure if that's smart thing to do on a car that's under warranty. Has anyone ever tried it on an S-class?
