Congratulations. This car is gorgeous. It looks so "strong" with those exterior components. Looking forward to more feedback and pictures.
Again, enjoy your car.

I don’t think my expectations pertaining to quality of the mass-produced MB cars is unrealistically high, but when such a defect shows up on a brand-new $250K machine, it really doesn’t help paint a better opinion.
In summary, it's a paint drip on the left rear door on the bottom side next to the front door. It’s definitely a factory defect that may have been the result of an overspray. Currently trying to find a matching touch-up paint for Mocha Black and get a professional detailer to rectify it. Factory QC sucks!

the image appears quite distorted, hard to tell exactly what we're looking at: still at that price point I agree with you 100%!
hope you can get that worked out to your liking

Pretty poor quality control for a car of this price.

Nice to see the car safe and sound at home. I'm also glad that Plycar ended up pulling through for you. How long until I will find this car at the tinting shop?

This is difficult for me to interpret what I am seeing. If this is a paint run in the clear coat a pro detailer will be able to wet sand it down. If this is a paint drip/splatter on top of the clear it will also be able to be removed through claying, wet sanding or some other technique. If this is a paint defect beneath the clear coat then it will be a little more difficult to repair but a very experienced detailer should still be able to repair it using touch up paint in combination with the other tools/techniques. Pretty poor quality control for a car of this price.

Why do people bring up the price when discussing the MB QC process? MB has one QC System in place that they scale to all their cars. You can't have say 10 different QC processes in place with different SOPs and training programs for a multibillion dollar global corporate behemoth. The company would grind to a halt if that happened. MB has the same QC and mfg process for an A class as they do for an S65 or an SLS. This is how MB gains economies of scale and ensures consistency in their level of quality (whether consistently good or consistently bad is another topic).
Yeah the AMGs have he whole one engine builder gimmick, but that's mostly just a dick stroke to get customers to feel like there's a level or artisanal craftsmanship in their car. He rest of the car is churned out in an assembly line exactly the same way for all models regardless of price. That is how a large scale mfg company is run period.

But I will give you that this particular paint defect should not require a better QA process, it should have been caught at the factory and addressed by experts there before shipping. This specific example should not be acceptable on any car at any price that MB makes.

All opinions taken and respected. The price tag does not matter, but the lack of basic level QC is evident.
I am sending these pictures to Germany FAO Dieter Zetsche. No expectations for his response, just raising an awareness and elevating the importance of why it is a bad idea to allow these (and any other) defects to sneak into the luxury car buyer’s territory.

My 2 W212 E Classes actually suffered worse paint defects.
My 2010 had a staggering amount of hardened "run" on the naked painted steel on the outer edges of the inner doors. Some of it so hardened and "pointed" that it was literally sharp. The trunk had an area toward the inner edge of the passenger side that had "run" so much that on the inside portion of said edge, it was a little "paint puss ball". I got frustrated with it and tried to "push it in" to hope that it would be hidden better whenever I opened the trunk, and it actually peeled. Brand new car, paint run managed to peel (when I tried to mess with it). This car also had several little paint "dots" that seemed to be some sort of dust or spec of something that made it into the paint during the painting process.
My 2011 E had the exact same issue. Lots of paint dried up paint runs on the inner doors (naked painted steel parts) and some pointed in a way that was actually sharp. It didn't have any "paint *****" that were big enough to peel, but it did have a very big paint "drip" on the passenger side skirt that I had to point out to the dealer, which they got rid of. It also had at least a couple little "dots" in the paint that seemed to be debris or something making it onto the body before the painting process.

I don't know this person. He/she appears to have been registered today just to post some information about this car. I wonder what is the intent and whether or not they understand the consequences?
