5. I would like the car designed AROUND the iPhone, to the point where there would be a dedicated PLACE for my phone right on the dash, where it would charge and talk to my car. MB should work with Apple to insure that as a few years go by, everything is interchangeable, within reason.
Android operating systems have 80% market share in the smartphone space. Why the hell would mercedes design a car around a phone that only 1 out of every 5 people use?

My beef with the car is the huge dual screens. Its so inelegantly done that it really detracts from what is a fantastic interior in my opinion.
Also, lose the 80s nightclub lighting color options. Neon purple? in an S-class? WTF?

I'd add: why would they have some 'holder' protruding from the otherwise nice, elegant interior lay out? maybe they didn't want to ruin the feeling of the dash with an arm jutting out to hold another computer

Yes BUT, I would venture to speculate that if you were to look at the number of phone users who were actually in a financial position to even think about a new S Class, then I believe the numbers would be completely the other way around, with probably 90+% of potential S Class customers being complete iPhone addicts.

Who said anything about an "arm?" I was thinking a little niche where you could place your iPhone, which could have a little disappearing door if one wished to conceal it.

I think that the one thing somebody might take from all the comments in this thread and in other threads in this forum, is that S Class customers LOVE having options. We simply LOVE being able to tailor our vehicles to our own, specific taste. Some guys here want their S to be aggressive and racy looking, while others want theirs to be much more understated. Some want the performance of a 500+hp turbocharged engine and zero sidewall tires, while others would prefer the smoothness and quietness of a normally aspirated engine and more traditional tires. I believe that MB can easily accommodate BOTH of these types of customers, with many shades and variations in between the extremes, providing each and every customer TRUE luxury, by giving each customer EXACTLY what they want. That said, MB seems to be moving in the opposite direction, making all of their vehicles very much alike and taking choices away from their customers. I would call this a bad decision on a car like the S Class, which is supposed to be the ultimate luxury car.

not to mention the average s-class buyer is in his 60s

Whether that translates to S class buyers I don't know, but the Android operating platform certainly has the overwhelming majority of the market.

Plus, Apple is a brand that is far more marketable for Mercedes or any car maker to join in with, just look at CarPlay and the excitement surrounding it. You don't hear as much about whatever Android's equivalent is. I actually (currently) have an phone that runs Android, but realize that "Android" isn't a phone, it's a general, ubiquitous OS that gets heavily skinned and ransacked unless you have a Nexus. That discordance/fragmentation is another reason why Apple is perhaps the only seamless hardware/software company that a car maker can seamlessly work with.
As for the S Class. It's not tech related, but for a car of such mass, I'd think that it should provide a lot more frontal headroom. I also agree that the screen placement is un-elegant, and harsh in its large, flat squareness. Whether it's the lesser of two evils being the crude "faux-Tablet glued onto the dash" trend is a different story. Either way, I hope in due time manufacturers go back to actually sophisticatedly designing screens into the design architecture, rather than seemingly lazily just going "here's the largest screen we could fit somewhere.... anywhere."

It would have been helpful if I could access my programed Favorites from the steering wheel pads and view them on the multifunction display. Same is true for my speed dial list.
