Rough 3-4 shift

I have close to 6000 miles on the MY15 car I picked up in August.

For a while I've noticed kind of a rough shift between 3rd and 4th gears under normal acceleration around town. I don't notice it at other shift changes.

Anyone else experience this?

Marc

I have approx. 2500 miles on my MY S550V4 that I received in July. I too am experiencing some jerky shifting, mostly when the transmission is down shifting, but sometimes when upshifting. I haven't been able to pin point which exact gear(s) it is doing this, but the 3 - 4 gears are what I suspect. It's annoying and not sure if I can replicate it enough to take in for service.

2015 GLK 350 4Matic with 7G Tronic Plus like yours. And yes, 3-4 shift is bad unless really giving it gas. Downshifting is fine...only bad on upshift with little to no throttle input.

Same here on my 2015 model... haven't really paid attention as to whether it happens when up-shifting or down-shifting.

+1, me too. Have experienced some crazy shifts at normal around town speeds. I believe mine are mostly up shifts. I have a 2015 S550 with with about 3500 miles.

The truly annoying thing, is that I have a few problems like this that I cannot duplicate for the service manager, so here I am, stuck with them in my $115,000.00 luxury car. If you cannot duplicate a problem, MB will not take you seriously. On the other hand, a Lexus dealer will damn near dismantle the entire car, TRYING to find the problem, because they are so concerned that you be COMPLETELY happy with their product. The best or nothing. Yeah, right.

Heavy 5-4 Downshift on Upgrade

I have a 2015 S550 with 10K miles and am experiencing a heavy downshift only from 5 to 4 on a upgrade. Dealer reloaded software and did a "software adaption" but problem remains. Not as bad after transmission fluid warmer.

I have also noticed the same thing, especially when the transmission is cold. Seems to be D3-D4 when leaving the house and under light acceleration. I also experience some rough downshifts when slowly approaching a stop. It's nothing major but quite noticeable. In the past I did mention this to the SA but the answer is we have to keep it for a few days and test. The upshifts seem to be better now but the weather has also been warmer. I'm going in on Thursday for something else and will mention this again. My thought is it will either get better or worse over time and I have 7 years of warranty lett.

Mine does the same thing. Not so much when driving in Sport mode vs Eco.

Mine has done it since brand new when going from 2 down to 1 about 3 times a month. She has 44,000 miles on her now and the problem has never gotten worse. When in Sport only (I think). I actually love considering it as my car's way of just talking to me and saying "hello". It never has worsened. I usually get it out on a straight highway and punch the crap down on the floor and open 'er up. This tends to allow the computer to "unlearn" some of my conservative driving patterns I do and it stops it for awhile.

Hmmm I may have to try that, I also noticed my 5-4 shifts are even worse lol, but not all the time, it's like it has to be the perfect RPM and speed for it to happen.

My 2014 S550 is only susceptible to this shifting problem when the weather is cold. Once the engine heats up, the shifting issue is gone. In fact, in the summer, I don't notice this issue at all. And I pretty much always drive it on the ECO mode.

I have a very rough shift at times from 5 to 4. It is most notable when I am following behind another vehicle going about 40 miles and hour and we start to go up a incline/hill and the car will kick back to 4th from 5th.

I have tried the transmission reset to no avail. I have also had it in to the dealer twice and they couldnt replicate the issue. I even drove with the shop foreman and of course it did not happen on our short test drive. Very frustrating for an otherwise great car with the exception of the RFTs
