Mercedes Maybach Prices Released - Very Surprised!
Just released the pricing for this car. To be honest....it's a lot less than I thought. You can get an S550 Maybach for the price of a Standard Wheelbase S600. They should be able to sell tons of these at this price. Makes you wonder how the hell they put out the original Maybach for $360,000 and up (for the base model!)
S500 priced from €134,053 ($166,000)
S600 priced from €187,841 ($233,000)

Not bad, I bet ticking some options would surely take it into the 200k area.
Overall though, not a bad deal for those that need it. I am confident the Maybach versions will be super hot sellers.

I am guessing from what I have read that in the US we will be getting the S600 Maybach but not the S500 Maybach.
Also I am guessing the quoted numbers are not the final MBUSA numbers but a conversion into the US dollar. So this may give an indication of US pricing but we really don't know pricing in the US yet.

Well this really silly especially when your compare it with car price in Middle East.
The S500 costs 177k USD in the Middle East
without burmester 3d,magic body control, footrest, exclusive trim,3 seats car

Once you already have <essentially> every amenity (S600) and all you have done is add 8 inches of wheelbase and a bit of <back seat> trim, it certainly should come in at less than $40K over the S600.
And its close.......

Those prices are the ones for the German market (Given that it's on the German site and configurable).
A standard S500 LWB is 109k Euros; compare that with 134k Euros for the Mercedes-Maybach S500. That's approximately a 23% premium.
A standard S600 LWB is 165k Euros and 187k Euros for the Maybach version; that's a 13% premium.
I'm guessing we can expect a similar percentage increase for the corresponding North American models.

Brabus charges more than that just for a custom interior. You appear unfamiliar with how much is being charged for low production modifications of cars.

I don't get how a $200+K piece is justified when it's exactly an S S Class with the differences in the rear.
I saw one in person and IMO the proportions look terribly weird. And the chrome door pillars look like those tacky aftermarket add ons that you see on Chrysler 300's, and not very finished especially in how the rear frame is left black.
IMO, the standard S Class LOOKS much better. The S Class Maybach is basically a usable limo with lots of rear seat comfort.
I think it'll sell initial batches (what doesn't from a popular brand?) based on the perception that Maybach's were well into the $300K range before (thus making some maybe even view this as a "bargain") and then years in, they won't move. If it's gonna essentially double the price, I personally would've liked to see a differently constructed front interior, at least an attempt, over the "run of the mill" S.

The front interior probably did not change much because it is meant to be a car the buyer is driven in.
Personally I will be driving my S550, so I will be very happy with the standard car!

I hear ya, but if Benz did an entire revamp of the car it would be the same or maybe more than the original Maybach.

The best thing they did with it, marketing wise, is call it a "Maybach", as IMO that'll be largely contributing factor as to it moving at all. In reality, it's a stretched, very highly equipped S600, imo.

One question arises,
do you want to drive Maybach, or to you want to be driven in one.
Simple.

I have a friend - you know who it is - who used to have a Maybach 57S (before it was destroyed by hurricane Sandy).
Yes - his mom was driven around in it to the city.
But when he wanted to take it out - I used to see him driving it like No big deal.
I personally can see the three of us (u me ed) driving a Maybach as well as being driven. It's not like a limousine or the Maybach 62 (which would be ridiculous to drive if you own it).
I could be wrong.

I will certainly be considering it on my next go around... heaven help me.
I have already spoken to MB about what type of customization would be allowed, although I do have a couple of years to go.

I don't think you are wrong. From everyone that I have spoke to at MB, they are positioning this car for either use.
