Help! Car goes nuts while driving
My 2014 S550 will suddenly pull hard to the right and the display will show the cars outline with the right side all in red. The road is free from obstructions, incorrect lines, changes in surface type, and other traffic when it happens. My service advisor says it is normal function of the car. I said bite me. He said if you don't like it turn it off. I explained why did I pay a few thousand dollars for it then! I looked through the whole manual and could not find a picture of any display like the one I saw. It has happened at least a dozen times now and is very dangerous. Any ideas on what might be the issue? anyone else have an issue like this? I searched to no avail.

Sounds like you Lane Departure Warning System is kicking in. Do a test and see if it happens when you wander over a line in the road without putting your turn signal on. I believe this is actually working correctly and it takes a bit of getting used to. Good luck.

This happens when you get near a solid line on the far left or right of the lanes. It should not happen within multiple lanes. The steering wheel will vibrate if you change lanes without signaling.

If you are in the middle of the lane and this happens at 70 MPH, that can't be fun and probably a safety hazard.
I would surely get that fixed. As you said, it can't be normal.

The tech even drove it home and said it was within what he calls normal operation. Expletive here. I will take it to mb of Beverly Hills and see what they say. I dropped nearly 200k cash, you would think they would want make me happy at Simonson!

Did you happen to read pages 240 to 246 of the owner's manual for the 2014 model year? There is a bunch of explanations with photo's of what might be going on. Just thought I would point that out but it sounds like you might have already read that. There is a picture of what I believe you described.
Additionally, check your windshield in the top middle of your windshield to make sure there is nothing obstructing the cameras. It has been found that the windshield might bubble near the cameras (manufacturing defect) causing all kinds of problems with the system. Just my 2 cents on trying to help.

Just to be clear: Did you buy/lease this car new? How long have you had it? How many miles on it? How long has this problem been an issue? "$200K cash?" What S model is that??

If you are not driving close to solid lane markings and no other cars next to you, it should not start steering with brakes.

Would be good to have some feedback for the questions expressed previously. Did you check carefully the windshield at the area of the stereo camera?

There does not appear to be anything wrong with the windshield. I'm going to take it to another dealer on Monday, wish me luck!
