Shock absorbers too soft...
Hi all
just wondering if there's a way to alter the shock settings via Star to firm up the ride on the S-class, have lowered the car but want to firm up the ride a bit more. What happens if i just unplug the variable shocks ?

I tend to leave them in sport mode all the time even though the roads are crap here, lowering the car helped a lot, only on the worst roads here do i run in comfort mode mainly to increase the ride height as you get some pretty big whoops… would like to be able to switch them one notch harder still all around. It's possible the spec is different on Thai cars to account for the **** roads

I find it a bit funny that people complain about "run flat tires" and the effect it has on interfering with a smooth ride
My S550 is so smooth I can't believe it.
My opinion is that the car was engineered very well - as is.
Stiffer suspension - I guess you want more performance driving. I wonder what the AMG has for suspension in that department?
I think it would be a mistake to fool with the "variable shocks" in any way. I guess if it's your hobby to modify the car, then OK, I can respect that, but it's a big boat - enjoy it for what it is. At least that's what I do. I sail over all the bumpy roads and enjoy the smooth and quiet ride.
Coil overs? Do you want a Nordschleife machine? 911 is good for that - do that instead, and just enjoy the car for what it is. Just my opinion.

The bottom line is that it's all personal preference. Some folks want their huge, luxury saloon to corner like a Go-Kart and don't mind if the ride is like a Go-Kart. Others, myself included, much prefer our luxury cars to be as quiet and soft riding as possible. All that said, I'm with you and strongly suggest that this gentleman get himself a sports car.

We have an s300 in BKK too and I think the ride is pretty rough and I think its cuz of the runflats. I mean i expected a better ride on an S class. Definitely feels harsher than our old W220. We do have the 20 inch wheel option though. Did you buy thru gray or did u get it from the authorized dealer?

Bought it from Thonglor Merc, is S300 AMG so has the 19" run flats, ride is good just a bit spongy for my liking…. and to the previous post yes I have a sports car as well but only for track use, 600hp RX7 sport sedan that eats Porches for breakfast and spits out Ferraris after lunch.

Porsche Macan S SportDesign / Ex M-B's: 11 & 10 & 06 E350's, 02 S500
Panamera S or GTS can give you that. An S Class is inherently about the opposite, really. I wouldn't mess with the geometry as it will probably sacrifice what the car is designed for, which is ultimately luxury and softness.
