I am a member of the invitation only Mercedes-Benz Advisors website. Currently, they are asking members for their input on the Jerry Rice MB Super Bowl TV Ad "Teasers" that are currently being shown around the country. The response from the members has been CAUSTIC: 100%, completely UNANIMOUS that every member feels that MB has hit a new low with these moronic ads aimed at a segment of the market that buys Nissan Sentras--USED Nissan Sentras. It would appear that the maker of these cars that we love is jumping into a race to the bottom. Whatever happened to heritage, reputation, standards and understated elegance? Anyone else see the ads?

No, not a sports fan at all. As of a few decades ago, when the players started switching teams every five minutes and going on strike, I completely lost interest.

I know what you are saying and I only do Netflix & some cable myself, but every now and then, some company decides to do a classy ad. A couple of years ago, British Airways did their "To Fly, To Serve" TV spot which was magnificent. If MB had done something along those lines, we would have all felt proud, it would have become a classic and shown in business schools for decades as an example of getting it right. Probably not right for the Super Bowl, but these Jerry Rice spots are ridiculous and MB should fire their ad agency and hire Sterling-Cooper.

Mercedes' U.S ad campaigns have been more ubiquitous and cheap than even entry level brands, for a while now. On the radio they have dealers yelling like those 70's Used Car commercials about how "Are you in the market for a Nissan or Toyota or Ford, well did you know that you can get a Mercedes for the same price?!" type of stuff. Unbecoming and says a lot about their shifting priorities, imo.

The worst was the goofy CLA commercial which like every economy brand was marketing a FWD economy car with dull dynamics as a sports car, doing powerslides at a red carpet event (in a FWD, really?)

Here's the new Superbowl "Fable" ad. Unbelievable cheese factor. I don't know why they're marketing their new AMG to seemingly 8 year olds, and not in a cool way. C&D hates it as well.
