a couple minor questions

1. What is the little dome-shaped protrusion above the dash, center, near the base of the windshield? I'm wondering if there is any downside to putting a tolltag in front of it, since my external license plate mounted one doesn't work very well, and I can't see the RF "window" that is supposed to be near the top of the windshield.

2. Am I supposed to have little foldout storage compartments under the frontside of the front seats? The manual says so (p. 324), and my W221 had them, but they are missing from my 2015.

Mine has the storage compartments underneath both the driver and passenger seats. I'm sure yours does as well.

I believe the dome like protrusion is for the interior temperature control system to get a read from the outside. There is also one on the rear deck on the W222. I remember reading about this but don't remember anymore about these domes.

toll tag ezpass

The 222 windshield has some sort of film between the glass. if you look closely you will see a small "window" in the film for your toll tag or what we the east coast drivers call a EZpass.

This space is on the passenger side down and over a few inches from the mirror so it is not in your field of view.

If you look closely you will see it.

hope this helps.

My 2015 does not have storage compartments on either front seat. I wonder why?

That does not make much sense. Did they not include these storage compartments on the 2015 build?

No storage on mine nor an AC adapter below the center a/c vents (cigarette lighter instead)

Thanks, it did help. I don't know why I couldn't find it before, whereas the lower one was easy. Maybe the angle or something.

My build includes P1...which I think most people would have, and designo exclusive nappa...which "shouldn't" impact anything, unless maybe it involves less automation in production.

My front has half the storage spots of the W221, since we also lost the under-door-armrest storage.

For sure you should have them with that build. Crazy. Can you take a picture of the area you are looking at, and then I'll take a picture of my car.

Does not make sense.

I tried prying it open with my fingers, but that didn't work.

no. don't pry them. you clearly don't have them. here is a shot of my '15 and you can see there is indeed a handle to open them (if you have them. weird you don't).

Mine has the handle too. I would ask the dealer what happened. Really strange. If you need a better picture to show the dealer let me know, but I can't believe they don't have a car with the handle.

Really weird.

My 2015 does not have the under seat storage either. My old 2008 did and I liked it.

For those of you that *have* the storage, what seats do you have - leather, nappa leather or exclusive nappa leather?

OP n I have exclusive nappa and no storage

I have exclusive nappa on a 2014 model and both front seats have the storage compartment.

However, very small storage space and pointless in my opinion

I have designo exclusive nappa leather and I have the compartments.

If you look at the picture, the OP has exclusive nappa leather as well, but no compartments.

I don't think it is the leather.

Check out the owner's manual.

Folks that have the exclusive nappa...do your seatbelts have contrasting color stitching at the edges, as pictured on MB's website?

...at least the outboard rear seats, and one presumes the fronts as well...on the website seemingly for all the exclusive nappa colors except crystal/seashell grey.

This picture is very close, but not perfectly representative of the interior. These are not actual pictures, but computer generated pictures.

That being said, here is an actual interior.

In my previous car, it was a handy place to put a small umbrella for each front seat. And my wife would use the under-door-armrest spot for sunglasses, as I would use the overhead for mine.

Still, I may not ask MB to correct my under-seat issue, as it could require major surgery and risk them messing up reinstallation of the leather or something.

IIRC that outer edge indicates the rear belt bags, which are part of the rear seat package
