Question 4Matic and Trans Questions

Picked up my 2016 550 coupe and am noticing some lurching when driving normally not matter in eco or sport. The lurching is not from the trans as I can see the gear indicator is not changing when it occurs, but you can feel something engaging causing the car to lurch slightly like its shifting but its not, that comes a few seconds later and that's felt as well...could it be the transfer case? Its been a few years since my last all wheel drive car Porsche C4) so it may be I'm not used to the characteristics of the 4matic.

I've also noticed some pretty harsh downshifts when the trans is in eco mode so I've been driving around in sport which holds the gears and does not allow the hard d/s's. I've read here that there is a TSB for this and would appreciate this and/or any info you guys may have experienced with this issue.

TIA

How can you post about your new car without pictures.

I think that is a crime punishable by...

Oh... and by the way... congrats and many happy driving miles.

I was waiting to post some good ones in another thread appropriately titled but here's some of my new coupe and Jag with my iPhone. How do you get these to post larger vs thumbnail?

With respect to the issue I've described above it's a bit troubling and feels very odd as if the trans is shifting a few seconds before it does and then it shifts and you feel that as well (always just before actual 2nd to 3rd shift). Don't know what the deal is and I dread having to go into service with 130 miles for drivetrain issues.

Thanks very much for the good wishes

Try a transmission reset

If you have KEYLESS GO do not remove the Start button.
1. Press Start button twice. This sets it to key position 2.
2. Floor gas pedal for 10 seconds.
3. Press Start/Stop once. This turns it OFF.
4. Release gas pedal and wait two minutes.
5. Then start the engine and begin driving.

Other option:
1. Turn the ignition key to the ON (not start) position.
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for 10 seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset. When the 2 minutes are up take your foot off the accelerator and start the engine. Drive away and you should notice a more responsive transmission for a while.

Turn off keyless GO
double click (within 1 second) on the locking button of the key. The red LED will indicate the deactivation by two short and one long red LED flashing.

Thanks.
I will post lots of high quality (just bought the new EOS SLR) pics inside and out in about a week or so. The Bengal/blk interior is very sharp.

I'm going to try the reset on my new 15. I feel some of the downshifts and also she never starts off in 1st gear unless I selects Sport and then it only works once. All other times she starts in 2nd ? Is this normal ?
