More Tire Talk

Starting to think about new tires.Have 19" with MXM4 ZP's.Have been reasonably happy with overall performance but have particular replacement in mind.Anyone have experience with Yokohama Advan Sport A/S on a W222.Had them on a Jag and really liked them.UHP tire that is really smooth and quiet. Also, half the price of the runflats.

Well, since you mentioned "smooth & quiet" as qualities you appreciate, I had the dealer swap out the RFT and put on Bridgestone Serenity Plus tires. The ride is sensational and they are absolutely silent. I have 18" wheels, but they do make 19's as well. I also purchased a W221 compact spare, which takes a bit of room in my trunk, but provides peace of mind on trips out of town.

Almost anything that are not run flats will be a big gain in smoothness.

Because of no spare tire.

Weight reduction & space efficiency. On top of deleting the spare tire, Mercedes also deleted the lug wrench & jack. They believe that most S Class owners would call for roadside assistance - rather than change their own tire.

It would have been nice to have the option though...

Most 1st owners would call RA
Many 2nd owners will call RA
Not as many 3rd, 4th owners will, though.

On several of my cars I run the continental DWS. These are all season tires I really love them. I don't run them on my S class because my rim and wheel warranty will not apply unless I'm running on Mercedes approved tires. So on my car with 20 inch wheels I'm running the P Zero.

2015 S550 4MATIC
I am thinking about the same thing, I have the Goodyear 20 inch. A lot of ppl is telling me Goodyear are horrible. My 15 s550 came with 19 inch and primacy all season. I recently bought these OEM 20 inch as a take off. Noticed heavier. Steering. Ride is much harsh than the 19 inch. I am thinking of getting 20 in non run flat like PSS or conti DW ( half price of PSS) just don't know if it will be much different. Since they are 20 inches and not much rubber. Anyone have ideas??
