Does Media System play digital video files from USB/SD?
According to the W222 Owner's Manual (Media: Audio/Video section):
"The multimedia system supports the following video formats:
DVD-V
MPEG
WMV
M4V
AVI up to 720p"
However when I try copying video files in above formats to an USB or a SD card, the system only plays the audio sound. There is no video on the display (front or rear).
Is this normal? Am I missing a setting to play videos? Has anyone been able to play digital video files on the media system? Thanks!

Both data carrier and file system is OK.
mp3 files (music) plays fine.
avi & mpeg files (video) only plays the audio and no videos.
Has any one successfully played an avi or mpeg video on the system? I'm not sure situation is the standard or the exception.

Video is disabled while vehicle is in motion. You might also need to set the parking brake to view video. There are companies that sell solutions to enable "Video In Motion".

Thanks SteveB,
I made sure the vehicle was not moving, but still no video.
I have the TV-tuner and that works fine when the vehicle is not in motion. In fact, the TV works regardless of in-motion at the rear entertainment system. The RCA plugs also works with video images while in motion.
The only thing that doesn't work is the avi/mpeg video files regardless in motion or not. Maybe the system doesn't play digital video? Anyone can confirm if it does or not?

Mpeg video on USB stick formatted Fat32 works fine on my 2014. The source was a camera. If your digital source was from a movie, it could be copy protection which is built into most digital movie files.

I have been successful playing most files and even some that were .mov, .mp4, .mkv, files but they have to be changed to .mp4 and yes avi and mp4 and other were only playable up to 720p. 1080p files and up will play but you will only hear the audio. It will play DTS and DVD audio files as well. Its a pretty good system, I just wish there was a way to change the 720p limit to make it play 1080p files..most of my files are 1080p or higher. I feel like somewhere in the command unit code it could be changed. Does anyone think it's possible?

Old thread, however for those wondering why only audio is playing is if you play videos in 1080p you will only hear the audio, please make sure the resolution is no more than 720p

From what source?
Because I cannot figure it our for the life of me how to play anything other than DVDs or video from an iPod.
My system will not play video from the SD card, USB stick or my Android phone.
To me it's a total piece of crap.
I have an NTG4.7 in the car, E class, not S class..

No, that is for the SD card and USB options. Multimedia means anything played in the multimedia system (i.e., "multi-media" is multiple types of media - DVD, USB, SD Card, Bluetooth, etc.).
