2018 S Class - DIGITAL Light Headlamps
Looks like the 2018 S Class is in this new video from Mercedes-Benz with its new headlight technology:
Should have waited for next year's facelift before replacing my S550!

very cool. I wonder if the visualizations are generated by the actual headlights or a secondary LED projector type device.
Also wonder if this technology is based on laser light technology or enhanced LEDs. A shame that the laser lights were never available in the US.

For the first time - Mercedes did not refresh the S Class after 3 model years. It is MY opinion they screwed up royally.
2000 W220 refreshed at the 2003 Model Year
2007 W221 refreshed at the 2010 Model Year
2014 W222 refreshed at the 201(8) Model Year - not 2017 and anyone with a 3 year lease - would have NO interest to lease a 2017 car for 3 years - with a new refresh out just 8 months or so later.

And that EXACTLY is what I am hearing from many mercedes friends of mine ^^ and what completely sealed my decision to get a Porsche.

I luv the NVA , it's fighter plane type tech highlighting pedestrians with a flashing red box is awesome picking up those in the shoulder that are easily missed while driving...it's a far superior system than our new Audi's (Audi doesn't even work below 77'F nor have the same tech as MB's). I just wish MB's engaged at speeds below 35 mph...15 or 20 mph+ would have been better.

Most of the "digital stuff" on the video is an artistic view of the sales department, you cannot do things shown on the video with 84 pixels, not even at 1024 that some development products have.

This is a test/demo vehicle for digital lighting tech, not a S-Class facelift mule.
These headlights will unfortunately not go into production as you saw them and not for the MY18 either.
Each headlight has a million pixels each with a million micro mirrors to control each pixel.
So all the graphics you see will likely be part of that package. This does require a much faster processor and connectivity to better cameras, sensors and gps.
I really like the concept of "drawing" all road lane markings onto any street in the middle of nowhere
As for the S-Class facelift, Diesel Benz said it. 84 LED matrix lights (and even here who knows what comes to the US). The 1024 LED headlight will be intro'd on the new CLS in March 2018 (MY19)

Here's what I know to be reasonably accurate:
F/R Lights albeit not those above
F/R bumper and grill sharpening/chiseling
Seats to have new design and with massage in bottom cushion
Additional safety tech etc. from the W213
Updated instr./infotainment panel
Since the 17's already have the 9G, LTE and new command software is there anything else?

What's the rest of the skinny on the facelift?

There will be some more small bits, like the new touchpad and CarPlay (only 4 years late).
I will expect maybe something more on the semi-autonomous side of things since Audi is coming out with a very aggressive approach aka fully autonomous driving (even saying the the liability may shift from driver to car). Hope they don't get burned by that approach...

We have the SA hands-free in our new '17 Q7, it's actually quite nice, say to open a water bottle and have a drink etc. and let the car do the steering, even around curves, although it requires hands back on the wheel after about 15 secs. The system works quite well but sometimes not all roads (even major ones) have the full lane ID. The Audi's nite-vision is subpar cpm'd to MB NVA however.
I remember they did nice publicity stunt a while back when they drove/dropped off some of the actors/actresses to the Berlin Film Festival. No driver in the seat at all!
