Updated W222 steering wheel pics
Here are some pics of the updated steering wheel. I like the wheel overall but am not fan of the plain silver panel look of the controls.
All assistance functions have moved to the steering wheel. No more stick. All currently engaged system will show in the display or Hud.
I will list all assistance systems in detail in another post...

Gray colored buttons look classier than dull black colors but black colored buttons provide a good contrast to view .
Speaking of steering wheel , I'm not a fan of round steering wheel airbags ,it's just a circle with a fancy logo on it

Turned out that the steering wheel was pre-pro after all. Now looking at the final designs, they have become a touch less elegant.
I was no fan of the old two-spoke one but am unsure of the new ones...
I do like that the wood wraps around completely again

No, the original pic is still correct for non amg variants - see your third photo. The first and second one are for amg and amg pack models

This is actually a Maybach and the center of the steering wheel is the same as the other two. The pic just doesn't show it...

Having just got my W222 after a lifetime of non-premium marques, I'm already used to the current steering wheel design. The buttons are all flush and there seems a logic to them. This new design looks awful to my eyes and those rollers! urgh. Looks like it was designed by committee.

Are we to assume that the Maybach style wheel will be the style used in the non-sport S560?

My verdict is albeit I like grey buttons overall I find steering wheel to be too quirky because of weird shape of the button pads to the both uppermost right and left hand side.To me it should have been a flat not something trapezoid . May be it would block the view of the paddle shifters but designers can get thru this if they want
