Hi

I ordered a 2017 S-550 which production was completed last Friday. It's been sitting at the Port of Germany as per the dealer waiting to be assigned a ship coming to the Port of Baltimore (USA). How long does this usually take? I'm excited to get my hands on this amazing vehicle.

Not all Mercedes are shipped on WW. There are other shipping companies. Your dealer can tell you what ship your car is assigned to from netstar once it is assigned

I got excited for a moment. No it's not on this ship today. Yes I have the VIN.

That's the question. It hasn't been assigned and it's been a week. Is that normal?

Yes it is normal. It has to be trucked from Sindelfingen to Bremerhaven. And then wait for a ship.


Here is my most recent timeline for my '16 S550 4matic.


Build completed 8/6/15
Load on Ship 8/17/15
Arrived at Baltimore 8/31/15
At Dealer (3 hour drive from Baltimore) 9/3/15


My prior builds followed similar timelines.

ok. Thanks for the info. I'm way over miles on my current lease and trying to get out of this GL. My wife just picked up her 2017 Range Rover LWB and driving my GL feels like driving a Camry.

Do either of you know if there is a way to track by vin myself without going to the dealership? Crazy that MB doesn't have a system similar to BMW which allows you to track by order number and shows each stage of production.

Unfortunately, there is no outside system. You need to call your dealer for info.

Hey, thanks for this info. Is this updated daily? Are there ships that leave Germany daily for Baltimore? Trying to see if my car will be on the next shipment. Last 6 are 336760

Vessels leave constantly from Bremerhaven to Baltimore.


One of the largest group of vessels is Wallenius Wilhelmson that MB uses.

Of course your car may end up on another carrier but there is a good chance it could be on one of these Vessels.

If it ends up on one of these ships, you can track the shipping progress from the web. Of course it could end up on a different carrier but my '16 S550 4matic and my Euro Delivery '14 S550 4matic was on a WW ship and I could track when it was loaded in Germany and when it was off loaded in Baltimore.

Still nothing and dealer says ship hasn't been assigned. It's been almost two weeks since completed and VIN assigned. Ugh!!

Finally showing on boat scheduled to dock in Baltimore 5/25. Should be able to take delivery end of month or first week of June.
