Pollen filter (aka. cabin air filter) replacement tips and info ??

Hi Guys,

I am wondering if the so called "pollen" filter or cabin air filter is necessary to be switched out every 20k miles? can i wait for a longer time to have it switched out?

Or has anyone done a DYI on this replacement?

Easy DIY job. It is actually 2 Filters. They are coated in Charcoal to help remove odors. As the filters start to load up with Dirt / pollen, it will gradually restrict airflow.

I will post the Part Numbers if you need them...

On the OEM filters there's no directional arrows for the air flow and I'm 90% certain it matters- anyone know for sure which way they go?

The same way the old ones come out lol.

The little flaps on the sides point inward into the 'V' formed by the filters. There should be directional markings on the new ones if you bought MB ones though?

LOL. I didn't think I'd have to state in my original post "please don't tell me 'just like they came out' - I wouldn't be posing the question if I could use that as a reference"- but apparently I needed to. Thank you for this info

Again, there were zero directional markings. None- and they are 100% OEM, MB, brand new in the box.

Got them in correctly, eventually- with the flaps as you mention.

Very strange, I will look at the next 222 filters I replace, I though they were marked. It's possible MB changed suppliers and now they are no longer marked. I have seen some differences in the filters for other vehicles lately.

Dunno, but I got 2 boxes (4 filters) and not one of them is marked. Very annoying, LOL.

No arrow, all BEHR airflow direction as it relates to filter labeling.

Ok, I've been working on taxes all morning, so my brain is mostly mush ... are the flaps in this picture in the correct alignment, relative to the "V"?

The PDF helpfully posted above says the arrows (and my aftermarket filters have arrows!) should point toward the blower, but where the hell is that ????
