19inch AMG rims vs 20inch
Which one did you go with and why. I ordered my car with 19 because I live in Pennsylvania and was told the 20's aren't good in the snow and prone to flatten quicker with pot holes. I keep seeing pics with 20's on the car and it looks amazing.
Any thoughts. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...4e88bcc136.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...aa4aff9b5.jpeg |
I have the 20's pictured and got them because I loved the way they looked. Anything below 20 in my opinion looks too small for the W222, but larger wheels will result in a harsher ride and looks matter less to some rather than comfort and being less prone to damage. I haven't ridden in an S with smaller wheels for long enough to say how much the ride difference is, though. I can't complain about the ride as it is and I just make sure to pay attention to the road to avoid stuff like potholes, but can understand that can't always be done. I hope the 18 and later models will have that style, but may be asking the dealer to swap wheels when I trade in my current car for a newer one if I don't like the current offerings as dumb as that may be.

I have the 19 inch AMGs. I love them. I think they look great and appropriately sized for the car.
I went with 19 AMGs because of the potholes in PA. The dealer tells me they have tons of issues with 20 inch AMGs with the potholes in the area I live but rarely have issues with the 19 inch AMGs. I must admit, I like the look of the 19 inch AMGs over the 20 inch AMGs but other people have said they like the 20s better. All a matter of preference but with PA and the horrible roads, I do not want to blow out tires. PA roads are horrible and I recommend against the AMG 20s in PA. Just my 2 cents. |

Boy that picture looks like a dealer I have been to before. Is that near Villanova University? Went by there when looking at colleges for my son if that is the dealer near Villanova.

Another PA owner chiming in: I put 20s on mine. I'm one of the ones who value the look over what I think is a slight loss in the smoothness of the ride. I didn't think there was a huge difference in ride quality between the 18s mine came with and the 20s (although to be sure there is a difference). Now as for the notorious PA roads, I guess I'm a gambler....

My 2014 has almost 50,000 miles driven in MA & NY, terrible roads. 20" is fine, looks better.

Picking up my car next week, but I went with 20" because of the look. I'm in Ohio but have other vehicles to drive if the weather is bad. I had 3 BMW's with 20" wheels and "run crap" tires. Only had 1 problem where my wife nailed a pot hole really good and blew out the tire. Wheel was fine. Guess I'll take my chances, but I'm not to concerned.

I ordered my car with 19's, but then bought some 20's after seeing it in person.
Good luck! |
In Germany, you can order your new S Class with 17" wheels. Sure wish we had that option here.:D

Congrats!!! Looks great! Shiny as if just out of the box :)
I love how the detail kids are present during delivery: counting on your new car euphoria to get themselves a tip :) Then you drive away and can still see suction cup marks on the rear windshield :( Plus the smears all over the front. YES! It has arrived! More pix when you get 'em :) |
