Had a e class loaner with cross traffic alert. Found it was useful. I dont understand why mercedes benz couldnt update a 2014-2017 s class software to add a option like this. Seems like the cameras and sensors are already there. Mid century are you listening?

Was this REAR Cross Traffic? As when you are backing out of a parking space, it warns you of vehicles or peds approaching from either side? Please give us a detailed explanation of how it works and what it does. Thanks!

yes while backing out of a parking spot if a car was coming a beep alert sounded. not much action but enough to make you stop and think if you couldn't see past the car next to you.

My Chevy Bolt has the same technology - I'm sure it will be on the 2018 S Classes soon enough

If you think the W222 pre-FL runs behind the times, imagine my surprise when I realized my G wagon doesn't have Keyless Go, Intelligent Lighting System, any exterior LED lighting, 360 Camera, Parktronic Automatic Parking, Attention Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Pre-Safe, or even crumple zones... lol

When you picked up my 2014 ML, my 2015 S550 was still about five weeks away, so I rented a new Chevy Impala during that time. I got it from Enterprise as one of their deluxe series and it was a loaded car with leather, etc. It had the Rear Cross Traffic Alert and I was SO impressed with the feature and I just couldn't wait until my new S arrived, because I had heard so much about all the new driver aids and I just KNEW that it would have even a better RCTA system. As it turned out, MB did not have such a feature on their cars, until the W213 E Class came out and the S won't have it until the FL 2018's come-we can only hope! Next to Distronic/Font Impact Warning, I cannot think of ANY driver aid that would be more useful than the RCTA. With so many W222's equipped with Surround View and Parktronic, you would have thought a software update could have provided RCTA, but no soap. In this particular case, MB has been WAY behind lowly GM in technology. Shame on them!

BUT, you can get a new G in almost any color under the sun, but you can't get a new SL in plain, old red anymore. Go figure.

Took them forever behind ford to do rear foot trunk release. Dont understand ehy software updates arent available either when it might save troubles and improve peoples experiences.
