Dealer can't fix?

So the dealer claims the lumbar support on my 2014 S550 can't be fixed! It deflates quickly when inflated and he claims since it is not throwing any codes it can't be fixed!. It's under warranty still so it must be fixed. What's my next move?

they have to fix it, regardless of their technical difficulties to diagnose it

simple fix, replace the seat!

Most likely cause is a leaking seat bladder. If your dealer refuses to fix it, try contacting another dealer if there is one in your area. If this doesn't work, contact MBUSA headquarters in New Jersey - Customer Assistance Center at 1-800-FOR-MERCEDES (1-800-367-6372), or send correspondence to: Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC Customer Assistance Center 3 Mercedes Drive Montvale, NJ 07645. Be sure to get an written acknowledgment of your reported problem to protect you if your warranty expires prior to resolution of the problem.

Thanks, I will try contacting MB HQ. I know they have to fix it no matter what it takes as it's under warranty so I was floored when they said it's unfixable! Nothing can not be fixed.

As a matter of reference adjusting lumbar support can be found in COMAND manual https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/servi...owners_manuals

EPC shows part was revised several times since initial production (possible modification) this could be your starting point when requesting MBUSA assistance/overview http://mercedes-benz.custhelp.com/ap...es-benz-usa%3F

Check your PM.

Find another dealer if possible, but first ask to speak to the Service Manager. If you can show them the problem, its covered!!!

P.S. Make sure they order the part that suppose to show error codes, tell them that part is bad also.

I showed them the problem and the head service technician came out and he tried it and acknowledged there was a problem

The pneumatic controller is inside the seatback, they fail from time to time. If there aren't codes, they can still replace it under warranty due to improper function. Worst case, they can try a new one and see if it fixes it, or if it still leaks, then the bladders need to be replaced.

Mine doesn't work as well. I noticed it when I couldn't get the massage function to work. I was wondering why I didn't feel the side support when I went around curves and it wasn't until I couldn't get the seat massage to work that I realized both functions weren't working. I bought the car in RI but currently it's at my house in Florida. I am a long way from a Florida dealer so was going to get it fixed when I brought my car back to RI for the summer. My service manager said no problem, bring it in when I get it back, it's still under warranty. In the mean time, I ordered a 2018 s560 and trading in the current model, so it's their problem, not mine.
