New tires needed! Continental DWS 06 or Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 plus?
I need new tires for and not sure what to go with.
Continental DWS 06 or Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 plus? These are both all season high performance. Has anyone tried both or have any options. I think both of these tires were re-done in the past year with these newer models....

Running the new Pilot Supersports on my W222 and they are by far in a different league. Worth every penny.

I'm running the DWS 06 on my W221. I had issues and lost two front tires due the pressure falling below 40. Never been an issue before. Great tire just have to run higher pressures.

I mounted a set of the new ExtremeContact DWS 06's on my 2015 S550 a few weeks ago. I have the AMG 20 wheel package & am very pleased with the ride & noise level so far.
I also run these on my wife's X5. This latest version of the tire seems to have gotten ride of the wierd "bonging" freeway speed noise that hampered the earlier versions.
I live in Michigan so I'm banking on these in the winter as well.

That was a mistake! There was somehow a greater level of road noise, and I didn't even wait a full day before taking them back and ordering the Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires that I originally wanted.
They are fantastic tires, and handle beautifully! Based on my experience of having these two tires back-to-back on the same day, the PS A/S3+ are quieter, and have a slightly smoother rider. This is all also evident if you research some comparisons. Two big thumbs up for the Michelins from me!
Just make sure you get the "Ultra-High Performance All-Seasons" version so that you get the stiffer sidewalls, or you could easily damage your Mercedes' lightweight allow wheels.
In the end though, I do believe these two tires are the top 2 tires you can buy within the all-season category if you are looking for the best performance.

I had old continentals on my car. I looked up reviews and had made up my mind to get the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires, but I went to Conrads to order them and they convinced me to get the DWS based on their "professional opinions."

Interested in this as well for the S class. I just got rid of my run flats for the Pilot Sport A/S 3+. They actually became available through my dealer so much easier to manage should i have to use warranty etc. I was leaning towards them slightly over the DWS anyway. I had the Pilot Sports on my old C350 and they held up well.

I bet you are one of the few S classes in Traverse city! I know I hardly ever see any up that way. Do you use it in the winters up there?

The new Michelin’s I have are so noisy.
Hi. I put Michelin pilot sport 4s on my w222 and I cannot take the road noise. I know you are looking for all weather and just wanted to chime in because all the reviews on tire rack suggested this tire and the noise is unbearable. You may want to stick to what was originally on the vehicle.
Also, I see people suggesting the highest performance tire. Higher performance tires like the s4 have a much more aggressive tread pattern. In my opinion I feel they will be noisier.
Good luck. Please post what you chose and how you like them.

I couldn't take the noise from my Continental DWS 06's anymore. Even my wife commented on the noise - she thought I installed snow tires on the car. With 7/32 worth of tread left on the tires, I unceremoniously cast them aside and mounted a new set of Michelin A/S 3+'s yesterday.
Ahhhh, quiet is restored to the cabin of my car. Time will tell if the Michelin's stay quiet longer than the Continental's, but for now I'm happy.

Hi
I have Pirellies on my 2018 S560.
245/40R20 (front)
275/35R20 (rear).
I liked the extra space on my trunk and don’t want to carry the spare tire however, I get a lot of road noise with these tires. What is my next option? Any other brand with smoother ride that fits my rims ?

run flats
I removed the Pirelli run flats because they are very noisy and hard riding. I replaced with conventional all season Continental DWS 06. Great ride. No room for spare in trunk so I purchased a tire repair kit in event of a flat. If Mercedes Benz buyers would complain about lack of option to purchase conventional tire package with a spare in trunk maybe Mercedes would listen. The cons of run flat tires far outweigh the pros. Mercedes dealers make a mint on tire wheel insurance and replacing bent cracked wheels due to unforgiving run flat tires on our pothole riddled roads.

No problems with the Conti DWS 06's wandering or drifting at highway speeds. I find them to be a little soft for hard cornering, but I rarely drive like that anyway. If it wasn't for the tread noise, the Conti's would still be on my car...
Enjoy !

Conti’s
Thank you for reply. I may have to get alignment checked. Compared to run flats Continental tires are quiet. I don’t expect an all season tire to handle as well as Pirelli summer tires. Please start composing to MB dealer about run flats.

I just ordered the Michelin A/S 3's and received a call from the Tire Rack representative stating that the tires are not XL (extra load) per the manufacturer and he needed to speak with me before releasing the order. So I mentioned to him that I want conventional tires and he agreed that the run flats ride hard and don't last as long. He went and pushed the order thru. Now i'm working on getting that spare tire that I know i'll need. Thanks.

Those tires are perfect and that’s a non issue. Two of my local dealers use those exact same tires on the S when someone complains and wants the best ride with the least amout/chance of shake in the wheel. Yes, they are a little more expensive but they are the best. Those a/s 3+ give the smoothest ride on the planet plus look cool. Get the a/s 3+, the + being newest release.
