Warranty about to expire!!!!
My warranty is about to expire at the end of November. Is there anything that I should address? I bought the car brand new from the dealer and am the original owner. So far the only problems I had were grinding brake pads which were replaced within a few months on ownership and a dead battery about a year ago. The tech came to my house and jumped it...got a new battery. I was thinking of getting an extended warranty for additional 3 years through Mercedes but the qoutes have been all over the place and the car has been almost perfect. I baby the hell out of my car.

They are always "almost perfect" for the first 3 years. It's AFTER that when the problems start to occur. If you want to keep the car, get the extended warranty. There are threads here talking about "THE" guy who offers the best deal on them.

I'm on the same boat, however I'm trading for an Accord........yes, the new one that looks like an Audi haha....
I do like the car, but am growing weary of giving it so much money......and things are going to start going wrong soon as stream mentioned.......

I hear what both of you are saying. Getting the warranty makes sense. I figured if it costs about 1k a year it makes sense just for piece of mind and could get to drive a great car with air-suspension which is why I would be hesitant to trade it in for a new model or buy something cheaper like an Japanese car.
So far I have only gotten called back with quotes from 2 dealerships. 1 from local Fletcher Jones which of course was hilariously overpriced and one from Naples...
Fletcher Jones 7/75k=$5,100 7/100k=$5,963
Naples 7/75K= $4,000 7/100k=$4,750
If you could pm who the "guy" is that would be much appreciated.
Cheers

BUT, what I always seem to come back to, is safety. With what looks to be an ever increasing number of GIGANTIC SUV's & pick-ups roaring around town, it concerns me. And, many of these older monsters are now being driven by teens, who are texting, streaming, and in several other ways, NOT paying attention to driving, let alone maintaining their behemoths. In addition, has anyone else noticed that SO many drivers now consider stop signs to simply be a "suggestion," rather than a law?
If the worst ever happens, I want as much solid, preferably German engineering surrounding me, and I feel that I have the best chances in my W222. IF I can get a special ordered S560 by 12/31, and IF the deal is a great one, I'm going to lease it. If not, I will probably buy my present car, with only 31,000 miles, maybe buy an extended warranty and wait for the S500 in 2019.

There are some very reputable third party warranty companies that provide coverage for everything. Ask the service manager at your dealer for recommendations of companies that they have good experiences with. Years ago, I purchased a third party warranty from Fletcher Jones and then a few years later I had warranty work done at Anaheim Mercedes. There were no issues and the dealer dealt directly with the warranty company and was paid directly by them. I did not have any contact with the warranty company. Only consider a company that your local dealers have good relations with.

The reason companies exist to sell you an extended warranty is that they make money off of it.
If, instead, you took that money and placed it in some liquid investment, 95% of the people doing this would be better off than with the extended warrantee.
But realistically, Mercedes service costs are "not that much" after you have owned the same Ferrari for the last 17 years.

Not necessarily " my guy" per se, but I did save at least a couple grand from " this guy " buying extended warranties for both my wife's and my MBZ. Jealous?
Also, he is the " guy " for many forum members as there is an entire section on here dedicated to extended warranties. This is where I found " the guy "...haha.

Just a followup now that my warranty has ended....
I bought the Extended warranty from Tafel Motors it was by Mercedes for $3,425 for 7 year 75000 miles and I think I maybe got 400 worth of stuff from the dealer replaced. In retrospect it was a waste of money but honestly I felt relieved buying it and didn't stress about it at all. I get all my service done on time like filters and fluids....I will start taking my car to carmax though since Fletcher Jones service costs and every dealer near me are just as expensive and higher. The service manager said they use genuine Mercedes parts and the way to make this car last a long time is just to change oil every 6 months with mobile 1 not every year which is what is recommended.
In a nutshell you might be better off investing the money in growth stocks like FANG than just buying a warranty. Especially if you baby the car and it has a proven power train like the m278

Update. Huge Coolant leak when I went to the gym. Had car towed to dealer and car is of course out of warranty and spent $3000 on turbo coolant lines from dealer. I want to keep this thing until California makes me get an electric car. Interior and Exterior are flawless and it has about 70k miles and daily drive to work 8 miles a day.

Well if that was you only repair in the 3 years sice you posted you won, a warranty would have cost you over 4k so you in the winners circle for now.
