Trans oil service at 40k mile service 2015 S550
Brought My 2015 S550 in for Service B which is the 40K mile service, it included Brake flush and a number of other things. I had assumed they were going to change the Trans oil and filter
too as I thought thats when it called for it on the 7 speed auto trans. Low and behold they did not change the trans oil under my prepaid maintenance and instead told me it was not due
until 60K miles, they claimed there is a difference between the 2014 and the 2015 models even though the cars look the same and have the same trans in that Benz switched to a better
tranny oil starting in 2015 therefore making the car able to go an extra 20K miles before the trans service. I looked in the maintenance book that came with the car and it says 40K miles.
I've heard this service is important then because of trans failures later if not done then. I really don't want to wait until 60K miles and think I might try another dealer. Anyone else ran into
this and could the dealer be right on the 60K mile trans service interval.?

I don't see how an authorized dealer could argue with a valid printed maintenance schedule, unless they could show you an updated/amended maintenance schedule for your vehicle. Take your booklet back to them and show it...I had to do it once for a BMW M vehicle that had a different schedule than the vanilla BMWs that they were familiar with and they gave in and did the maintenance according to the schedule I presented them.

Good point. One service writer said they did the trans oil as part of the 40k mike service B. The other one admitted they did not do it when I pointed out it was not listed on the papaws work. Darn it I told them to do it when I dropped the car off. I just wanted to get everything done then. Plus I told them not to rotate the wheels. They did that and balanced them and charged me 80 bucks. The car was smooth as glass before. Now it’s not as smooth.

I really want to do the trans oil now at 40K miles, the dealer told me MB changed the type of Trans oil, the new is green, the old is red hence the 60K service vs 40K service. I don't really trust that though as I plan on keeping this car over 100K miles so even If I have to spend 400 bucks now to do it I will. I will not do it again until 100K miles which should be another 3 years or so. I am very thorough on maintenance, I use to own a auto service business so I know cars.

so just do it, you will have piece of mind. I bought mine cpo and the dealer did the trans service at 35k miles... On a prior Bmw I did the trans service at 50k.
