Update 2015 COMMAND to 2018?
Hi everyone, I currently own a 2015 MB s550 4matic. It is currently at the dealer getting the blower motor replaced and they gave me a new 2018 s450 loaner. I love the command system in the new 2018 model. Is there a way to upgrade the software at the dealer and get those system changes on my 2015? Are there ANY software updates that I should request the dealer to perform? The car will be out of warranty soon and I want to make sure that I can get as up-to-date as possible before the warranty runs out. Thanks.

I would doubt that it can be done with only a software upgrade, it’s probably a combination of hardware and software that would need changed, that sounds expensive. Please report back if anyone finds a simple solution to upgrading.

Wow, I'd love to get a 2018+ S Class loaner when I go in for service... is this a regular thing at your dealership? The best thing I got was a E400 wagon. Extremely fast and fun to toy around in.

Ask your service adviser it they have an S Class in the fleet of loaner cars. I had to wait two weeks until it was available. Beverly Hills MBZ has a waiting list and they would most likely give it to someone with an E-class or an S-class in hopes that they like it and buy one. They most likely will not give it to someone with any other model.

I never looked in to it. (If we are still talking about changing the 2015 software to the 2018 software) It actually may not be just a software issue. Also, the options that your car was sold with are tied to your vin and the computer system both in your vehicle and at Mercedes. So, trying to change out the Command module is most likely not possible. The newer vehicles have more options that are not even available on the older models. I have purchased a module to deactivate the "Start/Stop" each time I start the vehicle and Video in motion. Also, the lowering module only used on vehicles with the air suspension. I have also added larger wheels/tires on another. All of those things, I was told at the dealership it was not possible.

Last thing I got for a loaner was a gla200 😒. And the check engine light came on after like 5 miles lol.

Not possible to upgrade the command system.
What I find a joke is what MB calls "Apps"... If you have an active Mbrace subscription why don't they have a "Pandora" app you could download from the MB apps section, Or an "iTunes" app. That is possible but then..... Our cars have 1998 cellular technology..... it's 3G non-LTE. MB could have used a 4G modem back in 2014 when the W222 came out but oddly they took 4 steps backwards when it came to the telematics... 4G came out in 2008 and 4G LTE arrived in 2010. The 2018 facelift command system is fitted with 4G LTE, go figure. Luckily I can stream Pandora from my phone via BT to the command system.

I am currently driving a 2018 GLE 350 loaner which is not cool... Might as well be driving a Suzuki Samurai. I was supposed to get an E class, I called my SA the following morning and left a message asking to swap it with the E class..... He never returned my call.... That was last Wednesday!

Like others, I’d love to have a late model S class for a loaner but never have. When I take my S550 in for service, they usually make mention that they’ll give me the best of the loaners they have - usually a SUV or E class. Once they gave me a CLA - MB should be embarrassed for putting the 3 pt star on that car. I get entry level pricing to attract a younger customer and hope to retain them for life... but come on, everything was low grade plastic and it drove completely different from any MB I’ve ever owned... probably should rethink the strategy about getting a new customer for life in a car like that ... as I said, quality doesn’t line up to any model I’ve ever had and I’ve had C, E and S class over the years. A co worker, new to MB said she was looking at a CLA - fortunately I was able to talk her out of it and she loves her E class. I digress from the original point of this thread ... but great to know there are some dealers out there that’ll give you a S class for service .... great strategy to try and have you fall in love, convince you to upgrade...

Can you provide more details on the modules you bought? Where did you get them, how do they install, etc..
I really like the video and Start/Stop module ones you mention.

I havent read the full forum response, but i have a 2014 S and 2017 S AMG, the 2017 has a few nice comand improvements, so i had a flash performed on my 2014. The result was that i now realize that there are a few hardware/wiring changes, even from prefacelift early to prefacelift late. The main things i wanted do show up but without function. I do think some of it could be activated if i followed the system upstream to the missing "stuff" or figured out the wiring upgrades.. but not worth the effort. I love both cars..
This being the case, there is now way a prefacelift can be upgraded to post without tremendous effort.. as the changes are even more significant and dramatic in the pre/post comand...
Hopefully i am wrong but not likely...
