Changing Plugs in a 2015 S550
I thought that would be a nice little do it yourself job. Wrong! I got the 2 front ones on the right bank done with some difficulty. The 3rd one got me. I have worked in tight places before as a Electrician but this one was bad. It was like playing a sliding trombone in a *****t house. I gave up.. Seldom I do that. There must be some special tools required to pull it off. I guess I will have to take it in and pay someone that knows what they are doing.
The 2 that I took out looked perfect. Nice and white with a slight brown tint. My hands should heal up in a few days.

Wow sorry to hear that was such a struggle. A lot of the newer cars are like this and the dealers do have special tools with special swivels. Good to hear that the two plugs you got out looked like new. How many miles are on your 2015 S550? Mine has 40K miles on it and I see in the owners manual the plugs are suppose to be replaced at 50K miles which is not far away. I may just try taking the stock ones up to 100K miles, worse thing that could happen is eventually I get a misfire code and change the plugs at that point.

I used to pull engines out of cars, rebuild them and reinstall them. I used to do all my own brake and suspension work. Then, I got my first Porsche, took one look at the fuel injection and the cramped quarters, put my tools away and pretty much never did anything major on another car. Today, I have been known to never even open the hood during a three year lease. I do admire those who do their own work on these modern, tech loaded cars, but for me, it’s pre-paid service, a factory warranty and away we go!

Thanks for posting that information! Is there a location where we can access documents on the W222? I am looking for information on changing fluid on the Front / Rear Diff on the 4 Matic. Also for transmission filter. Dealer said this is only required on the AMG not the S550.

You can subscribe to STAR, $60 for 24 hours more than enough time to download any/all VIN-specific WIS docs of interest. I would suggest changing differential fluid same as ATF interval even though it is not required.
