Ordering 2018 S63 - need help with interior

Ordering 2018 S63 Black.

Torn between a) black exclusive Nappa upholstery with metalicized trim and b) porcelain/black upholstery with black headliner and flowing lines trim.

I am concerned about keeping white seats clean (Im a fanatic). Does anyone have opinions or experience with porcelain?

Thank you in advance for your responses!!

I'd go with your first choice (a).

I too am quite fastidious, in my case with everything we own.
If you/your passengers wear jeans, porcelain may not be your best choice due to dye transfer. Even my wife's expensive black leather Ralph Lauren belts caused dye transfer in another Benz we owned with a similarly very light colored leather. Yes these seats can certainly be cleaned often, but the new car rougher feeling matte finish on the leather seats will disappear much faster with repeated cleanings. The porc/blk looks pretty, but may not be the most practical choice based on your affinity for cleanliness.

Congrats on the new 63 sedan, I'm contemplating switching an 18 550 coupe order to a 63, now that it has a better trans. PS I luv the flowing lines trim, ordered it in both my S coupes and received many compliments, but also like the metalicized trim.

Last S-Class was crystal/seashell gray exclusive nappa which was much more delicate than the porcelain white/black combo due to the fact that all leather was light colored including the steering wheel and light carpets. Also had a couple SL convertibles with the porcelain white/black combo.

I am a strong proponent of these interior colors and am very detail oriented. Our cars typically look new while we have them. The S-Class leather stains a little bit easier than the SL which has a sun reflective coating on it but they are easily maintainable. I wipe them down wet and just dry off and they stay matt looking. Don't use microfibers though which makes the leather shiny.

The black leather will wear better and looks good but it would be the last color I would select. Just too boring to me. Of course I have to say that after picking up a car with black interior To my defense I can say that the car only came in that color...

I have a 2015 S63 with porcelain interior with piano black trim. I like the porcelain and never had a problem with keeping it clean.

I would agree my 2015 has the light color interior and it had some marks on the seats. I was able to get them out but it took more work than most people would want to do to accomplish.

First choice but I have kids, if not I may go with second. Black Nappa in my S65 and love it.

I have a 2015 S550V4 with Porcelain/Black exclusive leather upholstery. I bought the car new in October of 2014, and drive it frequently (38000 miles as of now). I frequently take several of my grandchildren for long drives - and they range in age from 8 months to 11 years. I have never had a problem with keeping the interior clean - and they always eat (usually chocolate)in the car. I did buy the interior/exterior protection package when I got the car, and that may be helping to avoid stains.

How were you able to do that? I have the porcelain interior and it has some stains and haven't been able to get them out.

By the way, despite the porcelain interior being more difficult to keep clean, it's just so stunning to me that I wouldn't order another car without it. I love that the seats, dash and door accents are white and everything else is black including the carpets and headliner. I'll be ordering my next with porcelain and the flowing lines accent wood. I haven't seen the flowing lines in person, but if it looks anything like the site, I'd imagine it's great.

You can now get a form of Ceramic Coating for interior.

Do not use anything harsh on the leather, as it will remove the clear type vinyl coating on the leather. Never use anything w/alcohol/based.

Thank you RJC!! I have decided to go with the Porcelain/Black. I have never seen the flowing lines in person, but I appreciate your feedback and have ordered that as well. I am looking into a ceramic interior protection treatment as soon as I get the car to help with keeping clean. It might be a pain, but I have decided to give it a try. Best to you in 2018!

I have decided on the porcelain/black and am planning to get the ceramic interior protection you recommend from a firm in Rochester NY as soon as I get the car (delivery eat. Late February)

Thank you for your input. I have come to the conclusion that it is worth the extra effort to have the stunning look of porcelain/black. I agree that black might not be as interesting, and I'm going forward with the Porcelain/Black. Thanks again for your feedback!

Question, in the back seat, if you put the middle arm rest down, is the top of the armrest (where the cupholders are) white or black? thanks in advance!
