One feature the w222 doesn't have that should!

Some cool things are how can control and move the passenger seat from the drivers side controls, turn on the heated seat/cooled seats for the passenger from the driver side (existed on last gen S class too). Also, the REST feature which has been on Mercedes since forever, which heats the vehicle after you turn it off and leave.

BUT, I wish they would being back the motorized rear view mirror like they had on the W140 S (princess diana car), it worked with the memory seats. This was by far the best usable feature I've ever had in a car. Why did they get rid of it!

Again, you could adjust it for every memory seat setting. So when anyone else drive the car, or dealer, etc, when you got back in and hit say memory 1, the seat and rear view mirror would go back to you exact setting. Was super cool.

Yeah, I had it on my 1991 SL500 (or was it a 500SL back then?) A very cool feature that they should have kept and refined.

Possibly a technical reason. Do the following test. Early in the morning, adjust the rear view mirror so it is perfect. Then at the end of the day, take a close look.... I guarantee that you mirror will need to be adjusted again. Your body shrinks throughout the day. Don't take my word for it, give it a try. So, if that is true, the automatic setting will always be off a bit.....

Hahaha, I had a W140 with that mirror and it never needed adjusted once I set it to memory. Unless someone else drove it after me. Then I'd hit memory 1, and seat and mirrors would go back to my settings.

That is an interesting theory though. I'm a lot older then I was back then, and the older you get, the more you shrink they say, and ears get BIGGER>.

I agree with you on the rear view mirror! It was a nice feature to have, but I think they got rid of it as part of the "cost saving" during the W140s lifetime as well as what I have heard -many people did not know it was motorized (especially valets, mechanics, and other non-owners) and turned the mirror manually and damaged it. I don't know if this is true, but it's what I have heard. My 1993 400SEL had this feature. My 1999 S500 does not. Some time in the mid-life refresh the rear view mirror lost its motor :-)

When I buy a new vehicle I adjust the rear view mirror and 12-15 years later when I sell the vehicle someone else has to adjust the mirror.

You know, as much as I liked that motorized mirror, in my ‘91 SL, nobody drives my S550 except me, so the mirror rarely needs to be adjusted. Sometimes the car wash guy moves it, but 2 seconds and I have it back where it belongs. I’m sure complaining about it is certainly a “first world problem.”

That's what I have mostly done. Even when I had the motorized mirror, I didn't need to change it. I think that's why MB got rid of it :-)

It's the same as saying, when someone moves your seat back a few inches, even say just one direction, we all could manually move it back in 3 sec, but use memory settings. In household where there are multiple drivers and when taking the car to the dealer, it was sure nice to get it perfect.

I was definitely disappointed when MB stopped using the memory center mirrors. We had them in the previous S-Classes and SL's. Only the W140 actually had a position control knob for it. All later models had to be manually moved and then the position would be saved with the seat memory. I actually brought our SL in for service thinking that the mirror was broken Nobody knew that it was discontinued at the time.
They were told that it was stopped using them due to high repairs but we never had an issue on any car..
