Keep in mind that once you go bigger than 19 you are not really fill much more gap but rather the tires get skinnier. These cars will not accommodate a 20" rim with 40 series tires so you are not really filling the gap but rather giving the illusion of less gap. Skinny tires are way more susceptible to wheel and tire damage and the ride quality does suffer a bit. I have 19" rims on mine and they seem to fill up the wells fine with Michelin AS3 tires.

Come on Stream, I saw you liking the sport package MY18 S-Class a while back
18" wheels be damned, if Mercedes wouldn't charge for the sport package, you would be sporting 20" AMG wheels as well With conventional tires they ride very smooth.
But I agree on the S-Class; I actually liked the car exactly as-is. I do like other aftermarket wheels from design and quality perspective as the S550/S560 wheels are fairly cheaply made (cast aluminum - mid-level vendors) whereas forged wheels will improve the ride.

Honestly speaking 22" wheels look perfect on the S-Class. This is a very large sedan. With previous generations sure, anything more than 20" looked clownish, but not with the last two gens being so large.
With that said, the majority of the wheels you see like the HRE RS103's posted above or the RS102's shown below they can be ordered in 20", 21", or 22".

I keep reading"the S Class is a very large Sedan." Obviously some of you have never ridden in a 1970's Lincoln Towne Car!
