Cooled seats
I don't have a new S but I sat in one.
I just want to run something by people.
Is the noise that your cooled seats make the same when stopped as when at speed? E.g. Do you hear your cooled seats more when you're on the highway, as an example?
I know this sounds like a stupid A F question, but there's a reason I'm asking (comparing cabin noise b/w cars). I couldn't comprehend why the S class wasn't quieter than I thought so hence wanted to ask the above (seemingly stupid) question. Thanks

I don’t have the facelifted 2018 so I can’t speak for them.
My 2014 W222 the cooled seat is hardly noticeable on the highway or at a stop light. In fact I have never heard it on the highway and the couple of times I’ve heard it in town was when I was sitting/leaning forward.
IMO the W222 is noisy in the cabin because of the run flat tires. I’m waiting until my tread is low and I will be switching to non run flats.

P.S. You can have the Heated and Cooled functions on at the same time. So in the winter, it can blow the heated air through the seats as well.

The fans automatically slow down when you slow down or stop. Once you speed up, they speed up again to what ever setting you have them at. They are not active cooling, just fans that move ambient air.

Ok, so I'm going to take it at face value that your comment is 100% accurate. In that case, can you hear the cooling function working?

I was surprised at how much seat creaking I heard on the new S. I'm glad to hear it wasn't a one off (or am I not glad...lol) I figured about the RFTs, thanks for confirming

Actually BMW can do both heated and ventilated seats simultaneously too (2011 F10 driver here, and it is really handy in winter to do that). On both BMW and MB, there are ventilated, not cooled like the Cadillac (which was appealing in the beginning but after 5 minutes it becomes uncomfortable).

on my 2018 i can hear the ventilated seats on setting 3. Not on setting 1 or 2. It's annoying so i keep them on setting 2 although i would prefer the ventilation of setting 3. The run flats certainly do make the inside noisier. I'm also waiting to change them to normal tires once they wear down.

The seats in my S600 are unnoticeable when driving, and only noticeable when stopped and the motor is off AND the seat blower is at max.
The seats in my GLS are noticeable when driving at max.

Yes, you will hear the fans moving when you are driving (moving) if you come to a stop, the cars design will slow or stop the fans until you start moving again. I originally thought the fans were not working properly, service showed me it is a design feature. Another feature, when you first turn on the cooling fans, they will operate in reverse to quickly wick the heat away, then reverse.
