Front license plate bracket
Thankfully the original owner of my MY15 S550 did not drill into the bumper to mount the front license plate bracket. Not sure if it ever even had a front plate. In WA you have to have one. Anyone know of a bolt on bracket or device to mount it discreetly and without drilling holes in the bumper?

I'm in WA as well and have been driving my S550 all around (including I5 to PDX many times) and its never been an issue. I'd rather they hassle me over it now and then than ugly up the car that way. Same with my Boxster that I've driven for over a decade with no front plate. Even in the rare instances I've been pulled over (not for a missing front plate ever) it was not even called out. Unless you are really hassling the cop I doubt they even care.
My recommendation is leave it off and feign ignorance if it ever comes up. It is a stupid requirement in the first place.
Probably not the info you were seeking but I think a better answer. 😉

I am in PDX OR. I have driven a BMW 550i for 7.5 years without a license plate, for the same reason. And I plan to do the same with the S560v4 when it arrives. My research basically yields that no officer will ever pull you over on a missing license plate. If they are somehow ticked off and want to get you for something, then they will pull you over for something else, and will try add the missing license plate on that. Never happened to me, even though I was pulled over a few times. But I was prepared for it; basically you need to have the mounting gear (which the dealer is obliged to give you) along with the front license plate with you (trunk is OK), and you tell them that you will be doing it. I have seen this fly many times...
Now, meter maids are a different story. If you park on the street without a front license plate on, even if you are good with your parking fee, they can and will get you. I do not know why, but they are very proud of that over here. And that is where the law comes into the picture. The law states your license plate should be visible on the front of the car. It says nothing about it needing to be on the bumper (as some antique cars do not even have that). So I have a frame for the license plate, and put it behind the windshield when I park in place frequented by the meter maids. Never had an issue with that either.
