New-to-us 2015 S550e!
After owning a 1994 S420 (W140), and 2000 S500 (W220), we picked up a 2015 S550e with only 21k miles, and wow, this car is just simply AMAZING. Coming from those two older, 90's style cars, the technology in the W222 is incredible. Between the W140 and W220, we also had a BMW 750 (E66) and an Audi A6, and this S550e just blows all of those cars out of the water. The driving experience, the comfort, the amenities...everything. We found a great deal on a plug-in S550e from a local used car dealer that's been in the business for a long time. The technology on the hybrid system is amazing, and it's crazy to start the car and not hear an engine roar to life. Not sure how many people on here have the hybrid, but it has a claimed range of 12-18 miles I guess. The car has Premium Package, Driving Assistance Package, AMG body styling with the beautiful 20" Multi-Spoke wheels, the comfort box in the trunk, and Heads-Up display. I think I'll have to run the VIN in order to see what else I'm missing.
The first two days with this car have been great, we've been coddled in comfort and this thing just looks so sexy from the outside and inside.
With that said, is there anything that we should look out for? Does anyone know if we could go to the dealership and purchase an extended warranty on the car before it runs out in 2019? I think the car has a 7yr/100k mile warranty on the hybrid battery, but the rest of the car is only covered by the 4yr/50k mile warranty right now. I think we will be going to get ceramic coating done on the car with the paint protection film so that we can protect the beautiful black paint.
