These cars take a monster hit and don't stop until they are dead. I just purchased a pretty well loaded 2015 with 17K miles for around 59K and in doing my research they take a big hit for mileage. I love the car but I will probably buy a truck or SUV in 3 or so years when this one falls out of warranty. They are fantastic cars but the cost of ownership is just stupid. Personally I would not buy a honda just because of the road noise but my last car before my last S550 was a Tundra and they are very nice and don't depreciate the same. I spent around 400 bucks on dynamat and did most of the cab, it was very quiet after that. I still don't understand people who buy these cars new. I figure it cost the original owner of my car around $3.60 per mile just in DEPRECIATION. Nevermind the cost of gas or insurance. Just not worth it to buy these car new but what do I know.

Hype has proven, at least to me, to be a decent guy. We all get pissed off from time to time—especially with car dealers—and some of us get a little more vocal in our displeasure than others. In my younger years, I can recall more than one tantrum I threw at a dealership. I’m not proud of the fact, but sometimes after you plunk down over a hundred large and then get treated like you just fell off the watermelon truck, you lose it. Anyway, cut Hype some slack. I respect his opinions. I believe the Honda Accord is a magnificent car. I want one and if I had another garage space, I’d buy one, just for the hell of it. I think it is, without a doubt, “THE” current bargain in new cars. All that said, I can’t tell you how impressed I am with my new S560. I thought my 2015 S550 was a pretty great car, but almost every, single thing about the 2018 is WAY better. Hype: I strongly suggest you drive the new S and then make up your mind. Whatever your decision, best of luck. |
Agreed. People change cars for all kinds of reason; maybe just to mix it up. Lots of cool cars around and one will loose money on just about every car there is. Less on some, more on others.
Luxury cars always take a huge hit; Rolls Royce takes the cake here. SUV's are popular and are cash cows new and used due to high demand as are lower-end, commodity type cars. Large customer base. |
Thanx for the comments fellas.........yeah, the car is okay............but as someone mentioned in a PM, it's a financial liability........I could extend the warranty sure, like I did for my AMG......I spent almost 9K on an extended warranty that I haven't used yet and is up in march of 2019.........
I don't want to 'afford' this anymore, of course it's a nice car......it has lots of annoying things going on with it too: for a 125K car........ As far as Honda......it's a solid choice, everyone knows they go a long time and are easy to work on and inexpensive........Honda has come a long way too......heated rear seats for example..... My HRE's are going to be for sale, as well as a coffin size roof box, the roof racks, all weather matts....etc..... |

Over what? Driving one of the finest, quietest, most tech laden comfortable cars on the planet? Yes. I do not want the car anymore.
As as for the 9k, that’s the kind of money I would have gambled with and not gotten warranty. I paid $6000 on a cl63 that I thought was semi rational. One wish, .........please keep hard abs thread going rofl. !! |
Stopped by MB of Durham today :they offered 46. However, they told me: after we agree, they would take the car and SEND a check 10 later?? WTF!?

i respect your choice. Those big Benzs bleed $3k/month, and it’s hard to understand that fact collectively over a few years time. If I had to go your route, I would have gone Lexus, but alas your satisfied and that’s all that matters. As as for the 9k, that’s the kind of money I would have gambled with and not gotten warranty. Might be interested in the roof racks. LMK. Cheers.

I will be sorry to see you go. After Mike left it has not been the same. With you leaving for sure it won’t be the same. Enjoy the new ride. Nothing better than a new car. |

It's a decent looking car but it's Japanese not German .I would rather have a VW Jetta then the most resplendent Japanese car whatever it's be it Lexus or "Funfinity"
I'm bond of Teutons but I must admit I like Skoda too ,shame US won't get one of these but that's not out topic . Anyway, hope your next car serves you well |
I thought people went from Hondas to Mercedes, not the other way around.

I have owned as many MB's as almost anyone on this forum and have never one time complained about the depreciation the way some of you people do. Also a Ferrari, 3 Porsche 911's and 2 Maserati's. I do not know why some people just do not buy a CPO car. Buying any brand new car is a crazy waste of money. Let someone else take the hit. I also, never go to the dealer unless my car is under warranty. Instead of buying a brand new S Class maybe get a CPO one. And if you always want the newest car then suck it up and take the hit. I can live without having brand new all the time.
