MB to launch subscription service pilot in June

Mercedes-Benz USA and Mercedes-Benz Financial Services USA LLC today announced that they will launch Mercedes-Benz Collection, a luxury vehicle subscription service which allows customers to switch in and out of vehicles depending on their needs or lifestyle. In partnership with Mercedes-Benz dealers, the service will launch in June as a pilot in two markets: Nashville, TN and Philadelphia, PA.

With multiple subscription tiers available in each location, subscribers can choose from a broad array of Mercedes-Benz offerings including SUV, sedan, coupe, cabriolet, roadster and wagon models. Each tier will also allow access to the company's popular high-performance Mercedes-AMG models.

The Mercedes-Benz Collection experience is equal parts app- and concierge-driven. Once subscribed, customers initiate vehicle exchanges, concierge communication and other actions via the app. Concierge staff then ensure that the delivery is consistent with the details and preferences in the customer's profile. Subscribers will enjoy unlimited access within their tier and no mileage limitations. The monthly subscription fee also includes insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance and vehicle maintenance.

For more information, and to be notified when Mercedes-Benz Collection will begin accepting applications, customers can visit collection.mbusa.com. Additional detail will be available closer to the launch of the service.

Good to hear that they are planning multiple tiers, but I still think a point-based model makes more sense. That would allow someone at the low or midrange to occaisionally splurge for a month or two on a higher end car. And MB could charge customers with better driving records lower prices than customers with bad driving records.

Will be interesting to get the details, I assume this is like an advanced loaner or rental plan, you will not get a new car nor exact color and options easily. They will not be able to deliver unlimited options.

Will be good for some people, we will see how popular.

It looks like the monthly fee is about double the price to lease similar vehicles. Also the vehicles can be as much as three years old.

Who would have thought that Mercedes is cheaper than Cadillac, BMW or Porsche by a margin...

Their options are also more pragmatic with the ability to upgrade cars for a day (special events, etc.)

But in the end still way too pricey...

Who titles the cars? Tags? Also would need to clear navigation entries for privacy protection. Make sure no Maryjane was left stashed anywhere. You certainly would keep the neighbors confused.
