Touchpad excessively hot

Hello all, I have a 2015 S550 whose silver perimeter on the touchpad gets very hot after a few hours of driving. It happens in all types of weather, both in winter or summer, cloudy or sunny. The silver perimeter temp that surrounds the black touchpad measures over 110 degrees at times but the actual touchpad does not get hot. MB Dallas has not idea why this is happening and have replaced the touchpad twice after taking temp and diagnostics of vehicle. I do have rear zoned cooling and if AC in the back is turned on then the pad cools down quickly, otherwise it takes hours to cool down. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think they all get a little hot for some reason, mine does too. Could always bring some eggs and a spatula with you and fry an occasional egg for a nice healthy meal

Too darn hot

A little heat I could handle but the touchpad gets so hot at times that after touching it for 5-6 seconds I have to remove my hand/finger. It also heats up my whole arm rest and even my cup holders.

Any update on your trackpad? What does service say? Mine does the exact same thing, it was verified by my SA and they are looking into it now.

I have the same problem with my 2015 S550. It has the . The dealer has replaced the trackpad but the problem still happens. I have a thermal camera attachment for my phone and it registered 95F. The dealer has also used a thermal camera and recorded a high temp of 130+F. The heat appears to be coming from below the touchpad and migrating up through the metal ring around the touchpad. Here's a thermal pic showing what I think is the source of the heat. This was taken after about 10 mins of driving. It gets uncomfortably hot after an hour. The techs at my dealer have no idea on the cause. It can't be a light since the car only has LEDs and I don't think it's a short since there's no malfunction. It's been doing this on and off for a few as long as I've had the car (bought CPO in early 2017). I'd love to solve this incase anyone has any ideas.

heat coming up from under the touchpad

Probably a good time to get the car up in the air and remove the bottom panels and look up in tunnel where the drive shaft and exhaust runs for any sort of obstruction or baffle that might be blowing hot air upward. Remember the console is sitting on top of this tunnel..........

Anyone know what that button console would cost to replace?

Just leave the A/C in the back on, continuously, 100% of the time, except when its under 0ºF outside.

In Dallas this will not be a problem.

I think it's heat transfer from the resonators that are underneath the car. My 2015 S550 did it after I'd driven the car a bit and then let it sit for 30 minutes then driven it again... When I got back in is when it would be hot. I'm betting that it's mounted somewhat metal to metal somewhere all the way to the floor pan which then is transferring the heat from the resonators. These cars have panels that pretty much cover the entire bottom side, Trapping heat.

My 2015 has the same problem. Once the pad gets hot from the sun, it will never cool off. It generates its own heat. Not sure why. I assumed there was some sort of electrical power consumption inside the pad.
