$180 car wash

in case your day isn't going well, maybe it will cheer you up that you didn't do this:
though it's been a bit rainy, and scheduled all week, i decided my beauty needed some water spots off.
i realized i left the wipers in auto when the "hoola girl" of the car wash ripped off the passenger one.
car wash attendant retrieved it for me, then i saw the wiper rubber was a bit out of the groove - i fixed it.
then i saw that the blade assembly came off the blade "head" - with a LOT of effort i was able to remove the blade head - there's just not way i can get the head back on the body (and i could see green metal (rust/pitted) electrical connections.
regardless, off to order new blades.
for good luck, i let (by accident) the blade holder smash against the windshield, hard - was afraid i cracked the windshield - was lucky on that one.
i'll be far more careful when blade arrives. meanwhile, can't use wipers if it rains. doh!
i WISH there was a car wash button - makes sure all windows and roof panels are closed, cameras off, wipers off, etc. - i.e. idiot proof it!
okay, end of rant.

I was really waiting for you to say that you cracked your windshield with the wiper arm.... Now I'm disappointed but also relieved because I feel bad when silly things like that happen!

glad to disappoint you! though, i have to replace the blades i just ordered (was about $145 with shipping - still, a stupid way to start the day, but nobody died...) - i will use a towel on the windshield for the arms like the video i saw today.
i truly hope i didn't stress the glass enough that it becomes a problem in that area in the future
i may play around with the old blade, see if i can get it back on the old base and make electrical connections - but i doubt it.
ps deciding whether to buy a local $10 set - just to use a single blade in case in rains until the replacements come in.

I was going to, I searched the forums as I recalled the life time replacement parts. It looked like it would take a while to come, also said wouldn’t work with my car (which I think was an error on their part).
I couldn’t jury rig the broken wiper back too the head, $10 blade comes Wednesday, pair of the good stuff comes Thursday. I’ll just keep the car garaged until then.

A very similar accident happened to me about 2 months ago. I use Mr. Car Wash and they do a fantastic job. I pay $42 per month for unlimited washes, inside cleaning. I can do full service or the express wash when I stay in the car. On the day when accident occurred, I decided to go with the full service. Unfortunately, I forgot to turn off the wipers. I'm typically very careful and turn them off. The driver is suppose to check for that as well but by the time he did it was too late and the driver's side wiper blade was blown off. Fortunately, the windshield was not scratched at all since he turned the wipers off immediately when he realized what happened. He admitted it was his fault, but I didn't want the poor kid to pay for any of the cost of replacement. The manager asked if we could split the cost (headquarters would pay for half) and I said okay. I went to my dealer (just 3 miles away). The replacement wipers cost $235 (magic wipers). So, the total cost to me was $117.50.

Thanks, I feel a little better, but I still feel stupid. And now worried it may happen again...
