2015 S550 - New owner w/ questions!
New owner here with some questions while I am awaiting delivery of the vehicle! It is a well equipped 2015 S550 4matic with 23k.
Any recommendations for third party warranty? Factory will be out at the end the year and it is not eligible for Mercedes extended. Are you able to have the Nav and Audio displaying at the same time? If so, is this possible with the optional Splitview as the passenger watches a video or listens to music? Are there any particular/known issues with the 2015 I should have keep a eye on? (Production is 11/14) I would like to get the small annoyances taken care of within warranty. I have book marked the service bulletin thread as a reference. Is the comand online along with the WIFI abilities standard? I have not heard/read of any major issues with the W222 across the model years but any further input about your ownership experiences would be great! Thank you. |
Congrats on your new S Class. The only feedback I can offer you is to ensure to get a third party exclusionary warranty if you are certain you do not qualify for the Mercedes ELW (sold used by a non-Mercedes entity I think).

I have a 2015 4matic that I purchased in Feb with around 17K on the clock. Same boat as you on the warranty. I am going without one at this point. May regret it but I think there is a lot of drama on these boards about the need for one. Had one on my 2012 S550 that ended up being a wash after the 3 years I owned the car. It is all about risk, and the ELW is a hedge against that but they cost a small fortune.

Ask the service managers at Mercedes dealers in your area about which third party warranty companies that they have good experiences with, then pick the one that provides the coverage you want at the best price. Most service managers will tell your which companies are difficult for them to deal with and refuse to pay the cost of warranty items.

AAA is one of the 2nd best warrantee's you can get other than the Manufactures. I have had AAA in the past on 2 vehicles with success.
