NAV Update DVD??

I need to update my GPS/NAV map on my 2014 S550. With my 2007 and 2010 S550's, I was able to go to the dealer and buy a DVD and install myself. I just called my official Benz dealer and they're telling me I need to bring the car in so that they can do it. They don't sell the DVD anymore.

The DVD used to cost $250. Now I'm being told I need to pay for the DVD ($250), plus the labor ($150). So, $400.

Is this accurate?? Why can't I just buy the DVD like the previous models and update it myself?

Thanks, everyone!

The 2014 S class has an NTG5 Comand system. The latest update is 2017 V10.0. It is listed on navigation.com as only available from an MB dealer. The price is $249.

My dealer charged me $390 for the navigation upgrade to my 2015 S550. It comes on a USB stick now instead of DVD and requires a license key specific to your car (they extra a serial number off of your car, which is why they need you to bring it in). Because of the key this Nav upgrade cannot be used on someone else's vehicle.

2015 Mercedes vehicles came with 3 years of complimentary map updates: http://mb.navigation.com/cms/page.MY...en_US/MBNA/USD . Unfortunately the previous owner of my car never took advantage of this offer so by the time I purchased the car so I found it still had 2014 map data.

I just got the 3rd free Nav update installed at the dealer last week on my 2015 S65. So from here on out I will have to pay.
Just FYI, there was an ECU update a some other software updates for the car released in the last 6 months I also had installed. I took the car to the dealer for service because it was very hard starting when hot, but started fine when cold. Turned out to be a bad fuel pump. Glad the car is still under warranty, that would have been an expensive replacement.

I paid for an extended warranty for an additional 4 years, so I'll have them check everything and upgrade everything that qualifies. I'm sure I'll have to pay for the NAV update, but hopefully everything else is covered. You can't own one of these cars without a warranty of some kind. Becomes price-prohibitive and completely unaffordable.

My dealer in Canada just gave me the code with a plug in memory stick. No DVD anymore. Upgrade was only for my vin.
did it myself no need for dealer to get involved My opinion dealer involvement is a rip-off

I got 2018 Ver 11.0
